Description
Turbomachinery is a challenging and diverse field, with applications for professionals and students in many subsets of the mechanical engineering discipline, including fluid mechanics, combustion and heat transfer, dynamics and vibrations, as well as structural mechanics and materials engineering. Originally published more than 40 years ago, Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics of Turbomachinery is the leading turbomachinery textbook. Used as a core text in senior undergraduate and graduate level courses this book will also appeal to professional engineers in the aerospace, global power, oil & gas and other industries who are involved in the design and operation of turbomachines. For this new edition, author S. Larry Dixon is joined by Cesare Hall from the University of Cambridge, whose diverse background of teaching, research and work experience in the area of turbomachines is well suited to the task of reorganizing and updating this classic text.Provides the most comprehensive coverage of the fundamentals of turbomachinery of any text in the fieldContent has been reorganized to more closely match how instructors currently teach the course, with coverage of fluid mechanics and thermodynamics moved to the front of the bookIncludes new design studies of several turbomachines, applying the theories developed in the book
User’s Reviews
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Required for class, but overall a very informative book. With all of that information the book can become dense and tough to read, but that come with the territory of a technical field. A book like this is a must have if you are interested in turbomachinery and this book covers all facets to a degree. It includes axial steam and gas turbines, mean line design, axial flow compressors, 3D flows, cetrifugal compressors, radial flow gas turbines, and water and wind turbines. I would recommend to someone in the turbomachinery field as I myself am.
⭐THis book looks good but probably should be for masters level course. I will use it this semester for an undergraduate course and I know the teacher will be able to pick and choose what he wants us to read. VERY INTENSE>…
⭐It’s what I needed for class and was cheaper than the books store.
⭐of good quality. I like it.
⭐a bit too advanced for most people.. might get into it later.. could be fun to live in DERBY..
⭐This book has decent sections on hydraulic turbines and pumps, brief section on wind turbines – a general text book with plenty of equations for the academic/mathematical minded but reasonably readable too. Thank you to authors Dixon and Hall!
⭐Libro ben fatto, ideale per studi specialistici sulla termofluido dinamica.ben scritto e soprattutto con pochi errori .Lo consiglio
⭐Not found.
