Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐The book is a good primer for GIS novices wishing to get a broad overview of what GIS is all about. It lets you appreciate the complexities you’re going to face when entering this field. Don’t expect much detail though. Where I found this book really outstanding, lies in prompting the reader to objectively consider, whether a GIS is what the reader really needs. I came to the conclusion that a comparatively simple mapping software would probably meet my needs, and if that’s what it proves to be, the purchase of this book would prove to have been an excellent investment. So, now my next purchase will be Google Earth for Dummies.

⭐Great overview of GIS! The text is written in an understandable way. The author uses examples that are easy to relate to. Layers out nicely so the reader can navigate to specific sections of interest.Definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get an introductory view of what GIS is all about. Also helpful for reference to more experienced users.

⭐Only so-so, not much meat and potatoes here, more like a vague overview, with lots of details left out. I would NOT but this book again. Was trying to save money instead of buying the much more expensive books…. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR, applies here, LOL

⭐Very fast service here, I hope to start reading it soon. Thanks!

    ⭐Good for basic GIS understanding.

⭐I ordered this book while I was taking a class in GIS and not understanding alot of the terminology and jargon being used. (raster, vector, metadata, etc.) It was so confusing. Shortly after I got this book, I was able to keep up with conversation and explain my project using new words that I learned from my book. Now, I know what my professors are referring to without making it so complicated for someone like me to understand. I recommend this book to anyone who feels like GIS is not for them. This book makes it simple and easy to understand.

    ⭐Great product, no problems.

⭐Use this book a t work occasionally. Breaks down the program well enough for entry level users.

⭐For someone who works loosely in GIS or a student at university undertaking a GIS module, this book is incredibly useful! It provides various chapters about GIS and a good background to it. However, it DOES NOT provide step by step instructions for GIS tools because they are a book in themselves. At the time of writing this review, there are probably newer books out there but “for Dummies” is incredibly reliable.

⭐An excellent first point of call for an insight into GiS. Probably not for the more knowledgeable geographer but if you haven’t used GIS before, this will get you up to speed in a simple to understand (for dummies after all) manner. A Good value purchase

    ⭐Great and useful

⭐Overall I found the book to be good as it explains what the main features of GIS are as well as where you can go to source things. However, if you require a step by step guide (which i was sort of looking for) this is not the book for you. If such instructions were added, the book would definately receive 5 stars. However, still a very good / useful book nonetheless.

⭐Good book, perfect condition not too much packaging. Very easy to follow good guide for ecology GIS.
