    User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐You can always depend on Dummies books to give you just the right amount of information to get you started or fill a gap of knowledge in practically every topic. I must say that there were some assumptions in the book and about the book. I assumed it would be a progressive book about learning to PLAY the guitar from simple to advanced when in fact there is a Lot of side stories and history and guitar care, choosing a Guitar, etc. A little background on the guitar would not be bad but this is definitely Not a book just about learning to play a Guitar. The assumptions made by the author is that they could show you some music, give you drawings with no keys to what the symbols mean or what to do with them and expect you to work it out. Even though you can go back and look at the drawings over and over, the brief instructions won’t help you decipher their meaning or use. Now again, as a supplement, this is not a terrible book but there are much better ones out there, even other Dummies books.

⭐Its too thick, too much erroneous information, sorry i bought it. Its as thick as a science book and muck like one. I wanted to learn to play! Not study theory , and science of the Guitar!!!!!!!!!

⭐Got a couple chapters in and so far really good. Definitely explains the basics of the types of guitars (acoustic, electric, classic) with funny little jokes or commentary of famous guitar players.

⭐I don’t know what the discount is for this book currently but I paid 25 dollars for it. This is the greatest product I’ve ever bought. It is perfect for any beginner guitar player that’s aspiring to become intermediate. The book goes through all types of chords and styles of playing which allows you to learn all types of techniques. It gives you advice and suggestions throughout the pages to answere questions that may come up. It has really helped my guitar playing and although I haven’t been able to use it habitually, due to time constraints, but I’m already transitioning between A based barre chords and e based barre chords, which is pretty hard. And to not have to go to lessons every week but learn when you feel like warning this book is the best. So, overall single greatest guitar teaching tool for those who do not want to take professional lessons.

    ⭐Really informative

⭐No better than anything else I’ve tried

⭐Book full of usable info and very clear and to the point; simple. Purchased this for my son and it has many areas that define the basic and also more complex structure of playing.Yes we would recommend this book to anyone as it is simple and yet has plenty of depth where you can gleam good playing knowledge if you are willing to spend time in it.

⭐Bought this book for my dad. He is in his 50s and has decided he wants to learn guitar. I bought 2 other books for him originally and he was frustrated with the complexity of them for a beginner. So I bought this book for him. He has raved about what he is learning and is constantly boring me with new information. But on the upside he has played a few recognizable notes! Would definitely recommend this book to others .

⭐This book has everything I was looking for. I was a complete beginner with no knowledge of music. I tried another book ‘for beginners’ but was left feeling totally bewildered and ready to give up. This book starts by addressing the things that confused me – how to hold the guitar, which was the first and sixth string, how to read tab, where to find every note on the guitar neck, how to read standard music notation, how to string the guitar, etc.It has a handy chord chart and note chart in the front so you don’t have to keep turning over pages to find everything. TAB is included with standard notation throughout. The style is reassuring without being at all patronising. I personally enjoy the excruciating jokes and the lighthearted tone; it lightens the mood which is what a beginner needs. You can tell that the authors understand what you are going through and care enough to want to help you achieve your goals. It is written in a way that is accessable to all age groups. The language is intelligent and elegant. A book that describes a riff as having ‘subterranean girth’ displaysa certain type of eloquence and humour that I think anybody sensitive to music would appreciate. It takes you through the learning process in a logical and methodical way. I am rarely left with unanswered questions – the authors have the experience to know what the beginner is thinking. The included cd shows you how the tunes are supposed to sound. I found the tuning track particularly useful. If you are the sort of person who needs to know everything before you feel confident, this all in one book is for you. It’s my constant guide and companion in the guitar world at the moment , and I can see from the chapters further on that it will be with me for a long time into the future too.If it was made ring bound it would be absolutely perfect!Further: J West in the review below is right – ‘8 books in one’ is marketing hype. It’s still got everything you need in it though.

⭐This book is fantastic and i have given it 5 star’s.I agree completly with the other review even down to thinking it would be better if it was ring bound.ButPlease use the “look inside” feature as i would not say it is 8 books in one,Book 8 is just a chord chart and how to use the cd.But this is worth every penny since buying the book i have leaned scales and slide guitar and im starting to sound great (I Think)

    ⭐ok

⭐Typical Dummies book. Am relearning guitar from scratch after a lot of years away. This really helps. CD is great too. Highly recommended.

⭐A lot of info in one book.
