Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐I did get some very good information from this book even though I have crate trained several puppies in my life. I thought the schedule for crate training was especially helpful and I can adapt it to suite my needs better. What wasn’t addressed at all was bringing the puppy home to another dog. I know from experience that can make housebreaking much easier if you are bringing a male puppy home to a male dog but this is the first time I’m bringing home a puppy of the opposite sex.I am sure that new puppy or dog owners will get a ton of useful information. I think it’s a very good refresher book for people who have had a puppy before because it’s usually (hopefully) many years between puppies. The reason I deducted a star is because a multiple dog household wasn’t’ mentioned in the book at all.
⭐I gave my brother an Australian Shepard for Christmas which he asked for. He just lost his beloved Boxer Sammie. Although he says he knows about training and was a bit miffed when I gave it to him, he did forgive me when his new Aussie peed on a rug and he went directly to the book.lol.
⭐I borrowed this book from my library along with many others on training and this one has all the information I was looking for in one place. I have just now bought the book. Some reviewers have stated that you can find the information free on the internet but I find it much easier to have all the information organized in a manual that I can easily refer to over and over. When having a issue that I need information on it’s much easier to open the book and go right to that chapter rather than searching the internet for that specific problem. That said, now the specific reasons I like this book. I, like many other women in this day and age have to work for a living. I am not independently wealthy and cannot be a stay at home dog mom. Most people can not. This book gives in depth information on indoor paper training which for many people is a necessity, without making you feel guilty for wanting to enjoy everything that is so great about owning a dog. Many people must leave their dogs home alone while they work. It is just a fact of life. This author explains how you can do that and still raise a happy, healthy dog. Some of the other books on training only describe crate training in full and go on to say “if you must work all day, you will have to use paper training.” And that was all the information they gave on paper training. No other information to tell you how to go about it in the best way possible. This book gives you many options with very specific information in very easy to understand language. After having read 8-10 other training books over the last several months in preparing for my puppy this is the one I will refer to over and over.1/10/15: UPDATE: I want to add to my review with regard to indoor potty training. My Shih Tzu, Jesse, is now 11 mos. old and while we started with the indoor potty training we did combine indoor AND outdoor training. It CAN be done and does not confuse the dog. On the advice of our vet, we allowed our puppy to use the potty pads in his own room during the day and then took him outside OFTEN when we were home. By about 4-5 mos. of age he was completely outdoor potty trained and even though he is a small breed dog, he is able to hold it all day while we are at work. That is really the only part of the book I disagreed with. You can do both and the dog will learn. You just must be consistent when you are home and get him outside often. He will get the idea. Otherwise, this book was very helpful in explaining how to do each method.
⭐We had never had trouble training a dog before this stubborn little Chichiaua, I read the book and it helped. The information was great. Very helpful.
⭐It is a booklet, so short you can read in less than 15 minutes.I bought it to potty train my toy poodle inside, but the whole inside training it omitted, it just says to reference the full version. Total rip off.Do not waste your time or money with this mini version. It just gives you vague insights.
⭐A must for new puppy owners. Read it before you get the dog so you don’t have to cram. My pup is on the schedule and at 15 weeks old doing amazing. I only had to take him out in the middle of the night once. He loves his crate and I’m so glad I had the book. Not usually a fan of the books for dummies however, this one a great one!
⭐I have adopted a pitbull and this book helped me a lot. I recommend it! My puppy goes to the bathroom where he has to go! I also bought a “dog scent” to attract him to the place where the training pads are placed. This is part of the training. I praised him and NEVER yelled at him and the results are wonderful! I come home, and I only have to clean one spot, not all the house.Buy it.
⭐Not recommended
⭐Excellent service
⭐Content is OK but very very short. More of a leaflet than a book. Didn’t expect it to be that ‘mini’.
⭐A good general guide to crate training. Includes schedules for puppies and for adult. Gives information about more comprehensive guide you can purchase if you need more information, but I believe this is all you will need. A great resource. Highly recommended!
⭐Has not worked for my training yet, puppy is now 9 mos. old.
⭐Found this book very helpful with training my new puppy
