Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Honestly, I expected a bit more than a dumbed down getting-started guide. Tips, tricks, a little bit deeper wouldn’t hurt, would it? I wanted tips on transferring songs from other formats, consolidating playlists, sharing playlists between devices, the sorts of things music lovers would use to get a more satsfactory listening experience. Unlike other “for Dummies” books, this one really is just that.
⭐Save your money. The current version of iTunes (12.1.2) is so different from what is shown in this book that this book is of little or no help at all. Also, this book is supposed to be “For Dummies” but the author leaves a lot unexplained or says it’s explained under other chapters and headings. Unfortunately some of those headings have been changed or moved and you can’t find out what the author is talking about. I can’t even find out something simple like why I can’t update my iPod with a CD I just copied into iTunes. All in all a very frustrating book.
⭐With a new device in-hand, I need a teacher. The author is readily available for E-mail inquiries with excellent support. I went through the book a page at a time, like a textbook, and learned so much more than I might have on my own. Good book.
⭐As I am a newbie in the tech generation I am finding this book to be an immense help. It doesn’t assume I know things I don’t know. I can’t really give it as good a review as I would as my laptop, which is the iTunes part of my system, is currently unavailable. I am going through the book chapter by chapter.
⭐How to book for beginners
⭐Yes, if you know absolutely nothing about iTunes/iPods then this might help. I got this because I have trouble understanding the technical side of music and was looking for something to explain that in simpler terms. This book does NOT do that. In fact I didn’t find it any better than the “help” function of iTunes.
⭐I hate electronic updates. I am from a previous generation, and I find that the trade manuals were written by techies for techies. I need something in plain english. And thank goodness someone else thought that was a good idea too!
⭐It’s written for owners of the many iterations of the iPod — iPod classic, iPod shuffle, iPod touch, etc. If you own only the classic (an older model) there is much that is irrelevant and even somewhat misleading, unless you keep reminding yourself about which unit he is discussing.I found an older version of the book at the local library which came out when the classic was the prevailing version, and I found it more understandable. If you are pretty familiar with iTunes, you won’t have trouble keeping track of the various bits of info, but if you are a hanging-on-by-your fingernails guy, you might find this a little daunting.A lot of the confusion stems from the ever-changing (but not necessarily ever-improving) evolution of iTunes itself, not the book, and if you are a little more clued-in than I am, you would probably give it 4 or 5 stars. For that matter, though, you might not be enough of a “Dummie” to need the book at all. O the irony.
⭐More pad compared to pod, but most people should find something they didn’t know.If you aren’t so good with the net, finding things out for yourself, or fed up with others asking you how to do things on their ipod/pad, then buy this for yourself or them.
⭐Useful book to read or dip into when you have a problem – certainly written in an accessible style and my husband can understand it. As a technophobic this is praise indeed!
⭐Lots of information, clear print and clear illustrations and photos. Covered all I needed. well wort buying.
⭐Excellent
⭐Its a very clear book, quite helpful for most ipod users, but tends to concentrate on the ipod touch. ( I have the classic, but its still relevant)
