⭐Superb short take on Kant and why not make use of secondary sources for a philosopher whose complexity can be daunting. There are a host of more recent commentaries but this classic is still more than useful. Kant is perhaps the key philosopher of the modern period but he has been picked to pieces by a species of pseudo-philosophic cavil that has left the false impression that philosophers have somehow refuted his fundamentals and/or yielded laurels to the stylistic bravura but philosophic muddle of Nietzsche. Too many students of Kant get lost in the first two sections of Kant’s great classic, The Critique of Pure Reason, and the result is incomprehension. There is nothing wrong with an indirect approach and an historical account that clarifies the task Kant set for himself. This short commentary is a gem and can be a helpful starting point

⭐This an insightful study of Kant –mainly the three Critiques. It was published by Yale University Press in 1955, but printed in the United Kingdom (hence British spellings). Korner focuses on expressing Kant’s ideas, but also relates them back to empiricist and rationalist ideas. He also notes when there are post-Kantian developments or similarities.I have read this book twice. My background is a Ph.D. in the philosophy of religion. This is an excellent text for professional philosophers, graduate students, or even undergrads. It is not easy reading, but it is easier than reading the Critiques themselves (!!), which I have.
