⭐ Excellent book esp for one written many many moons ago. i intend to catch up on all James Hardly Chase books.

⭐ Not what I expect from James Hadley Chase.. I repeat, not what I expect from James Hadley Chase…. his worst I’ve ever read.

⭐ Plot is totally sidelined by the quality of the prose.A ragbag cocktail of British and American idioms that could only have been extracted from an exercise book by a non English first year student working remotely on a desert island.Difficult to believe this really came from JHC’s pen.Appalling.

⭐ I am fan of Chase and read a lot of his books in Russian’s translating when I was in my early twentieth. Now it’s time (when I’m about fifty) read it in original, and I really enjoying this book for start. But plot is a little naive…

⭐ Easily solved in the first couple of chapters. The book is also quite dated but an enjoyable quick easy read. Xx
