Editorial Reviews: About the Author Alan Hausman received a Ph.D. in philosophy from Iowa State University and now teaches philosophy at Hunter College. He has published extensively on history of early modern philosophy, especially on the work of Hume, and on the work of Nelson Goodman.Howard Kahane received a master’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He was a professor of philosophy at Bernard M. Baruch college in New York and is considered one of the founders of the critical-thinking movement, an approach to logic that makes it less abstract and more practical as a tool for analyzing political and social issues.Paul Tidman received his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame. He teaches philosophy at Mount Union College in Ohio.

⭐This is a good book! Most logic books just touch on the unintuitive concept that a “False antecedent is a True statement” for material implication leaving you still with the question, what? This book has a section titled “Material Implication and Valid Argument Forms” that does a good job explaining why the material conditional is used for truth functional logic.Also, this book begins with propositional logiand, then goes to predicate logic and puts categorical logic at the end of the book. I think this is good when you realize that anything categorical logic can do can been done better with predicate logic. Other logics are also briefly touched on a the end of the book( e.i. Modal Logic, Epistemic Logic, Deontic Logic.)

⭐This was easily one of my favorite books in college. It isn’t your traditional textbooks that simply give you information and asks you to build on it; this textbook gives practical information. The logic can be applied to debates, arguments, proving, and disproving and information, making you a master of language and syntax. If there are any books that I would ever recommend reading, whether for enjoyment or for more practical reason, this would definite be it.

⭐no option to expedite meant it took longer to receive and this has influenced my course progress…I am still playing ‘catch up’

⭐Great book, newer edition is better, but too expensive to purchase so just rented that copy and bought this one. So much cheaper!

⭐This book was advertised as New however it was delivered with multiple tabs affixes to dozens of pages. Tabs that cannot be removed without tearing the page. It also had multiple sections highlighted sloppily with multiple colors. Never buy from this seller.

⭐This book covers many different aspects on logics, from basic to advanced levels. It has many exercises and examples which make it easy to understand the different concepts presented. I’d suggest it for both teachers and students.

⭐Quick delivery, book is in good condition. Its not the latest edition but it is generally the same as the one I am using for a university logic class. Saved me almost $100.00 so I’m not complaining!
