    Description

Friedrich Nietzsche was one of the most revolutionary thinkers in Western philosophy. Here he sets out his subversive views in a series of aphorisms on subjects ranging from art to arrogance, boredom to passion, science to vanity, rejecting conventional notions of morality to celebrate the individual’s ‘will to power’. Throughout history, some books have changed the world. They have transformed the way we see ourselves – and each other. They have inspired debate, dissent, war and revolution. They have enlightened, outraged, provoked and comforted. They have enriched lives – and destroyed them. Now Penguin brings you the works of the great thinkers, pioneers, radicals and visionaries whose ideas shook civilization and helped make us who we are.

    User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐”To speak about oneself not at all is a very refined form of hypocrisy.”This book. THIS BOOK.Wow.No words. It’s just wow.

⭐I enjoyed this book, although its a book that I had to read in brief spurts… and sometime re-read the previous paragraph. There can be a gem of truth in very paragraph if one looks close at its contents.

⭐a very good book. good ideas. a bit hardto understand some phrases, but, good overall.

⭐Great book! Love reading some profound quotes before bed, would recommend this book to anyone that wants to expand their mind.

    ⭐Amazing read. Mind opening.

⭐Shut up. Read it. Great book.

    ⭐Awesome

    ⭐Excellent!

⭐I thought a lot about what rating to give but I’m not confident that I’ve done it appropriately so I apologise. There’s no doubting Nietzsche’s brilliance but it is very difficult to pick up his work and just quickly read it through like you would with any other author. Nietzsche’s work is difficult for the mere mortal to penetrate without an introduction or notes and this book has neither (the Penguin Great Ideas version). In order to understand it I needed to watch a couple of YouTube videos that provided explanations. I would recommend his work but not necessarily this version of it. Nietzsche’s overall work deserves 5 stars, but the layperson needs more support than was provided here, hence only 3 stars for this particular book.

⭐I carry this in my bad and read it before meetings or on my lunch. It may seem a hard to understand but that makes it more interesting. Some of the words used I have never come across before so I look then up and read over the lines couple times and then the meaning becomes clear.

⭐Quality of paper is very poor

⭐Definitely A thinking mans book. Insightful and beautifully written. Can dip in and out.

⭐Immensely deep.. Would have been better if they could combine his other works too. Short book though.
