⭐i found it very useful, as it had a lot of references and information that allowed me to work on physical math problems. it reduced the amount of research i wouldve had to do if i hadnt had the book and its references. most of all the info i needed i got from this and another textbook, so it just kept things simple and concise, it is a reliable source.
⭐May be a difficult to swallow at times (for engineering majors like me anyway), but still a great book on applied mathematics. Segel has a sequel of this one which I think is now a SIAM classic. It is also printed by dover.

If you want material that skips none of the foundations nor skimps on the depth of applications, this is it.Used since the 1970s as one of the texts for the Foundations of Applied Math course sequence at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, it has a companion worth looking into, ” Mathematics Applied to Continuum Mechanics” by Lee Segel.
⭐This is an extremely rich book explaining the details of several classic methods of applied mathematics, particularly differential equations and perturbation methods. The chapter on dimensional analysis, scaling and simplification is, in my opinion, the clearest and most lucid exposition anyone can read on these subjects. Wonderful book that is also a (mathematical) pleasure to read.
