Description
From the number one international bestselling author Sylvia Day.
The final chapter in the global blockbuster Crossfire quintet.
Gideon Cross. Falling in love with him was the easiest thing I’ve ever done. It happened instantly. Completely. Irrevocably.
Marrying him was a dream come true. Staying married to him is the fight of my life. Love transforms. Ours is both a refuge from the storm and the most violent of tempests. Two damaged souls entwined as one.
We have bared our deepest, ugliest secrets to one another. Gideon is the mirror that reflects all my flaws . . . and all the beauty I couldn’t see. He has given me everything. Now, I must prove I can be the rock, the shelter for him that he is for me. Together, we could stand against those who work so viciously to come between us.
But our greatest battle may lie within the very vows that give us strength. Committing to love was only the beginning. Fighting for it will either set us free . . . or break us apart.
Heartbreakingly and seductively poignant, One with You is the breathlessly awaited finale to the Crossfire saga, the searing love story that has captivated millions of readers worldwide.

Review Day’s fifth Crossfire novel brings the story of Gideon and Eva to a satisfying conclusion. Narrating their stories in alternating chapters, Eva and Gideon relate their explosive physical attraction, their appreciation of how they help each other heal old emotional wounds, and their ever-increasing mutual trust. ⭐ The title says everything…Put the book down and walk away- envision everything ends happily ever after. Then you can.I, on the other hand, feel extremely disappointed and left with far more questions, than remotely any plausible answers. If Sylvia Day had taken out one or two sex scenes (trust me there’s more than enough), then she could have used those pages to actually finish a storyline or resolve some issues. The last 3 books she just kept throwing these curveballs out there (out of nowhere), and just let them fly in the wind. We never find out resolution to major storylines with major supporting characters. Not even resolutions to small plots. I really feel that no plots were resolved in the making of this series.Spoiler alert ********************************************************************************************************************************Ok, then on the the “BIG” curveball storyline, that I truly believed was pulled out of Sylvia Day’s ass. Monica…….At around 80% into the book, you get this convoluted question about Monica and what big secret she’s hiding. I had to reread that section and was still scratching my head. Literally made no sense. And the asinine, obsured, implausible, completely ridiculous explanation at 95% of the book.(and no, that storyline doesn’t last from 80% thru 95%, it’s brought up on 1-2 pages at around 80%, then a convulted answer that’s 2-3 pages at around 95% into the book. I’m still not sure why this was even a storyline. I’m still saying WTF!!!!!!I guess the only good thing that came out of this story is Eva’s dad is coming to town to help. I would have loved to see that dynamic play out.********************************************************************************************************************************That may be the only plot line you do get an answer to.I’m heartbroken that we don’t get a resolution to the Cary/Tat/Trey storyline that’s been going on for most of the series. Ball completely dropped on this one. I guess it’s the readers job to just imagine what you want to happen because Sylvia’s not talking.Everything else is left completely unresolved. Before I got to the last 10-20 pages, I was actually thinking she was setting up for a sixth book to get resolution for the secondary plot lines and get more money out of us. But the last page she says this is the final crossfire book and then starts peddling her new series. Which I’d rather eat glass than start another series by her again. She’s shown her colors as a writer, and I’m not taking the bait any longer.I just cannot express how gypped off I feel and completely unsatisfied. The sad thing, for me at least, is this series started off soooooooo strong. I was invested in these people. I loved the first two books. Then it’s like the ball was dropped in the ocean (along with that diamond from titanic), never to be recovered again.Such promise that lead to a huge disappointment.
⭐ Well, we’ve waited a long time for this ending…and to say I was disappointed may be an understatement. I certainly expected after this long, drawn out wait, that Eva and Gideon would get an amazing ending. They didn’t, not even in the Epilogue. Most of the book was like reading the first four books on repeat…Eva wanting Gideon to give her more, open up. While Gideon always having a melt down because of his need to protect Eva and the fact that he didn’t feel like he was the center of her world.**Spoiler Alert**I think the really weird “what???” was the storyline turning to Monica and her life, or rather prior life. The explanation was rushed and didn’t add a lot to the story. If you are looking for “What happened to Cary/Trey/Baby Mama”, you won’t get that answer. There is no conclusion there. Who knows if she has the baby, if there really is a baby, if the baby is really Cary’s??? Trey is around but not in the picture at all. Cary was just kind of left in the wind.Gideon and his mother’s relationship never resolved. There was a hint of why his brother Christopher hated him so much, but really no resolution there either. At one point, Eva shows up with a dog, like Gideon is the type to have a dog, any dog. But she shows up with what I assume is a small dog, a puppy from the description. Somehow, the dog has the miraculous sixth sense of a well trained, much older, much bigger, therapy dog for people with PTSD. This dog knows to wake Gideon and even at one point Eva from bad dreams and comfort them. This dog pops in and out of the story like an after thought. Another storyline without a lot of substance. And of course, there was the usual pop up of the scorned females Gideon had been with, constantly being thrown in Eva’s face, and leaving us with more questions. Was the tell all book written? What happened to Anne after her latest stunt? More snips of small pop up storylines that were left incomplete. In the end, I was left with one big question mark and disappointment. I truly believed Sylvia Day would finish this series off in grand fashion, showing Gideon and Eva has a strong, powerful couple that fiercely ruled New York. Instead, she went with Groundhog Day and nonsense.
⭐ SO DISAPPOINTED! I can’t begin to describe the feelings of “let down” that rose as I flipped page after page of filler – I even started SKIMMING, something I’ve never done with a Sylvia Day book before. Day made several external to the main relationship’ conflicts an integral part of the plot (and incidentally a plot devise to keep E/G from overcoming their internal conflicts too quickly) – and readers became invested in their resolution…That’s why it was such a surprise when Day phoned every one of them in.Monica’s resolution was an utter cop-out (I can’t emphasize that enough.) It’s like Day couldn’t truly confront her and so she chose THAT as a convenient sidestep of every issue we had with the E/M relationship – W.T.F.Corrine and Anne final resolutions happened off-screen and there is NO EXCUSE for that. Day switched us to dual POVs after the third book… GIDEON could have allowed the reader to be present for those confrontations. For God’s sake, after all the heartache and pain, WHY DIDN’T SHE LET US SEE IT????And Cary… (sigh) This one threw me for a loop. Second to Monica, it was the biggest over-sell, under-deliver of the entire series. This was obviously the book where the editor said “Screw it. The sales are guaranteed.”
⭐ I’m a little pi$$ed off. Not going to lie. I was overjoyed to find One With You on my Kindle this morning. It picks up right where we left off in the previous book. The story had me hooked until 85%. Then suddenly the focus shifts from Gideon and Eva to Monica, Eva’s mom. The rest of the book focuses 90% on her and her ‘story.’ The end is where I got just plain mad. SO many unanswered questions!!! What were you thinking Sylvia! What happens to Corinne? Was the baby actually Cary’s? Did Tatiana have it? Does he reconcile with Trey? How could you leave us hanging like that?!? It’s cruel! And what the eff kind of epilogue was that?!? ONE MONTH LATER?!? That’s IT?!? I’m so disappointed!!
⭐ I waited a while to write this to clear my head. I waited a long time to get to this point. I have not been happy with this author since book 3 and I made a promise to myself that I would not buy anything more from her after I finished this series. Like so many I fell in love with Eva and Gideon. It quickly became my favorite series that I could not get enough of. I didn’t care how many books there were just as long as she kept me wanting more. So when Book 5 finally came out I could not wait to read it. Sadly, I did not know Eva anymore. The Eva that was in books 1 thru 4 had changed to a wishy washy 5 year old. Why change the main character to someone we don’t even recognize NOW! Like so many comments before, too many questions are unanswered not to mention a horrible ending. I don’t know your reasons why you decided that this was how the last book was going to go. Poor advice, time constraints, busy traveling, pressure from your fan base, etc. I will move on with a different ending in my mind. I would like to suggest to everyone who would like to read a great series to read the Driven Series by K. Bromberg. OMG! Excellent series. Driven has become my No. 1 series. The Driven Series is all complete. She is writing spin offs but if you stick with the main series you won’t be disappointed.
⭐ I put off reading this novel because of the high price and the huge amount of unhappy 1 star readers.I recently re-read the series so I finally decided to give the final book a try.The final installment had the same vibe as the previous books and the first half of the book wasnt bad. However, the subplot regarding Eva’s mom was strange and unnecessary and distracted from the story readers fell in love with. That plot was rushed and made little sense. Wont lie, I hated it.What was even more disappointing was the lack of closure on all of the main characters. All of them. You are left hanging on everything. You will finish this novel with the feeling that youve wastes time getting invested in these characters, because at the end of the book, all you see is Monica and her subplot. Everyone else disappears.People are complaining about Lucky. I liked him. His addition to the story didnt make much sense, but I liked him anyway. Kind of like Jar Jar Binks in Star Wars. Hes useless, but likeable. This book gets one star because it was a huge let down to an otherwise great series. It focused on minor characters and unrelated subplots, instead of main characters.
⭐ I came back to my review with the intention of deleting it and writing a new review. I was one of the first group of people to write a review, and I didn’t want to give away any spoilers. But there were several people the review helped, so I’ll just edit. I will tell you that I went back and skimmed through the book again. If I had rewritten the review, it would now only receive a 1 star rating. So, I’ll keep some of my original review at the end. But here is my new review. Only the very beginning of the book is where I used a spoiler. I didn’t give anything away about the body of the story. One mild spoiler from the first section of the book.NEW REVIEW:The one thing I was happy about is that the doctor immediately deflated Eva’s ego by telling her what she was doing was emotional blackmail. Especially since Eva had just accused her mother of the same thing when Monica got upset until she got her way with Stanton. And Eva was very hateful toward her mother. Also, she was so sure that she was right, and by forcing Gideon to share something he wasn’t emotionally ready to share, that she had fixed the marriage, because, in her mind, it was him that needed fixing. She just needed to hurt him in order to get her way. When she found out (and how stupid was she really?) that she had pushed him into a corner by blackmailing him, she got all teary-eyed. It goes from there.I feel like that should have been the end of book 4 actually. Then book 5 should have picked up a few months later with Eva working at Crossfire with Gideon. Then she could continue her career goals while contributing to her own company with her husband. That way she could show her intelligence and strength. And they could have faced their enemies together and tied up all those plot lines: LanCorp, Corinne and the tell-all book, the reporter, Christopher, Dr. and Ann Lucas, etc. We could have seen her still interacting with her friends: Mark and Stephen’s marriage, her friend who was abused, Stephens sister, etc.Cary was supposed to move into the apartment at the penthouse. We could have followed his relationship with Eva and Gideon, and found out what happened with him and Trey, as well as the model who was supposed to be pregnant. Was she pregnant? Or did she have it aborted? Was the baby actually Cary’s? Would Cary and Trey actually have a chance at a real relationship? We could have seen Eva standing by her husband’s side while he finally confronted and came to terms with his family. His nightmares weren’t going to stop until he worked out the years of betrayal he had carried around with him. We needed to find out why Christopher hated him so much. There were also tidbits in the other stories about a history of Christopher’s behavior that went far beyond the few things we were told about. Those needed to come to light and be dealt with. That’s what book 5 should have been about. How is Eva standing by her husband’s side? How is she stronger and smarter? How is she going forward with her career? All those loose ends from all the unresolved plots should have been taken care of – and in a rational, believable way.Unfortunately, if you’re looking for any of these things in book 5, you will be sorely disappointed. What you will see is lazy writing, irrational story resolutions, plot holes, and characters who only vaguely resemble the people you have come to know in the previous four books.~~~~~~~~Some reviewers complained because they felt nothing was resolved. My feeling was that the author was giving us a big “just kidding” – all that drama in the past 4 books – no big deal. It’s nothing to worry about. Forget about it.You might as well. The author did. All the things that were insurmountable in the last few books weren’t even worth a moment’s worry or thought to the characters any longer.Lancorp? – just kidding – they weren’t really a problemCorrine – No worries. She’s really no big deal. Tell-all book? Moving on; nothing to see here. And on and on. All that drama we were waiting to be tackled – just wasn’t. Not a worry any longer. Not a problem in their lives. Just not there.Another reviewer pointed out that Gideon and Eva played around with mild BDSM in the other books. Nothing hardcore, but spanking and the swing. That was never brought up again. It wasn’t part of their sex life. Did he just take down the swing and toss it in a closet? It suddenly wasn’t part of his personality any longer. Why? Now they’re Mr. and Mrs. Vanilla Sex living happily ever after on his money? She couldn’t care less about a career? Maybe accepting an award for the company would be okay, or commenting on a game the company is putting out? And she’s all satisfied? Were those even the same two people in the Crossfire Series? There were actually a couple of places where there could have been angst or a bit of drama or plot – but the first incident was cleared up in a couple of paragraphs. The second incident was cleared up in a couple of pages. And the ending plot twist was lame and ridiculous. It barely made sense. Once the reviews start really coming in, and spoilers are given out, I would be interested if anyone can explain to me how anything about that scenario was logical. The Epilogue ?I’ll ask the question again – Who were these people and what did she do with Eva and Gideon?!
⭐ I will admit that I came to the Gideon and Eva party late. I literally just read all of the books this past week and while I liked most of the books, this one I had a hard time with. The Good: I loved the way Gideon and Eva both grew individually and as a couple in this book. The feels between Gideon and Eva were fantastic and was definitely a welcome part of the story. The sex was great (ok, hot), and the roller coaster of emotions made the couple feel real to me. I liked that Cary even grew in the book and left Tat, but more on that later. The Bad: There are too many unresolved story lines. With this being the last book for this story, I had expected a lot more in the substance category. The part about the dog, while was nice, seemed out of left field. Cary leaving Tat and Trey being on the fence, there’s no closure on this story line. What happened with Christoper and Gideon, or Gideon and his mom? Anne Lucas…Just… frustrating. The Ugly: WTF is up with the whole Monica story line? It seemed way out of place and it seemed that the author needed an antagonist and felt this was the best way to do it. The book seemed to focus so heavily on Eva’s mother and her past, that it just seemed really off and out of left field. In the end, I ended up with more questions than answers. While there could be spin-offs of the other characters, but there were too many loose ends. When an author ends a series, I expect the majority of the loose ends to be tied up nicely in a bow. This left too many open questions and left me asking too many others. All in all, I was very disappointed in the book. I expected a hell of a lot more from a book that I spent a crapton of money on and I’m not satisfied with the way it ended. I have no closure to the story and maybe that’s the author’s intent – to leave things open to squeeze another story out of, which irritates me as a reader. I expected a nice send-off for Gideon and Eva and this just fell flat.
⭐ I have held off writing my review, because I thought that MAYBE I was the only one feeling SO cheated. Today, I decided to see if anyone else felt the same way, WOW!!! I’m not alone!!! What could have been an amazing conclusion to this series, sadly wasn’t! We all fell in love with Gideon and Eva and all the people surrounding them. Here they were, working toward a strong future, gaining the happiness and security together that they SO deserved…but…NOPE…GOTCHA…!!! COME ON!!! SERIOUSLY??? With everything that’s gone on, was KILLING MONICA really necessary? That was the page when I almost put the book in the trash because I was so angry! But, I didn’t because I hoped that Ms.Day, being the phenomenal writer that she is, would somehow pull it all together in the end. OH MAN…WAS I WRONG!!! When I finished the book, my ONLY thoughts were, HUH? BUT WAIT…WHAT ABOUT, CARY, MARK & STEVEN, BABY OR NO BABY? TREY, CORINNE, THE BOOK, ALL THE RELATIONSHIPS??? WHAT??? NO SHE DIDN’T!!! OMG!!! SHE DID!!! So, for now, sadly, I’ve backed away from reading Sylvia Day. I feel like this last installment was just thrown together to pacify the MILLIONS OF READERS who love CROSSFIRE. I feel like so much was going on that the conclusion to Gideon and Eva was haphazardly the end of a writers obligation. SO…When I read the series again, as I did, over and over while waiting for #5…I’ll fill in my own blanks! it will certainly satisfy my curiosity MUCH MORE THAN MS. DAY’S BOOK DID!!!
⭐ I really thought I couldn’t love Eva and Gideon anymore…I was wrong! I was so sad to see this series come to an end. One with You was a book that really brought these two together even more. While they both still have some insecurities they are working through them so much better. They are trulyworking as a team. These books got so much better for me when we started to get Gideon’s POV. I loved the interactions he had with his friends and with Angus. I cried for Gideon a bit more in this book. It was so heartwrenching with his interaction with Chris. Chris just melted my heart in this one. He so stepped up and was there for Gideon when he truly needed him. When Gideon finally realized Chris was in his corner and believed him I couldn’t stop the tears. I can’t imagine how it would feel to live so long of your life thinking no one believed you or had your back, and now he has so many that would take on the world for him. This series is one of my favorites!
