Description
Does the Bible teach Christians to expect victory or defeat in this world? In this powerful book, David Chilton sets forth extensive biblical evidence for the historic Christian view know as postmillennialism – the teaching that, before the Second Coming of Christ, the world will be successfully evangelized and discipled to Christianity. The author emphasized that our view of the future is inescapably bound up with our view of Jesus Christ. The fact that Jesus is now King of kings and Lord of lords means that His Gospel must be victorious: The Holy Spirit will bring the water of life to the ends of the earth. The Christian message is one of Hope: Pentecost was just the beginning.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Absolutely wonderful, fabulous book. A concise statement of the major points made in “Days of Vengeance”, but for the lazy reader! I highly recommend this book for anyone in search of a personal spiritual revival. But if you’re one of those “things are getting worse and worse – I hope Jesus comes soon to bail us out” persons, this book will leave your head spinning. And honestly, if you’re one of those people you need to learn a little history. When Jesus came to earth, roughly 80% of the population of the Roman Empire were slaves. That’s roughly 45-50 million people. According to recent estimates, there are about the same number of people in slavery around the world today, with a vastly larger population, so that enslaved people amount to about .6% of the current world’s population. Not to mention the fact that slavery is now outlawed in every single nation on earth, whereas in the Roman Empire it was the bedrock industry of civilization. So tell me…have things gotten better or worse in the last 2000 years? Think about it.
⭐Finally, a consistent postmillenial book, in stitched binding and a hard cover. I bought this and Days of Vengeance, and have been wonderfully blessed by them both. Thank you, Mr. & Mrs. North, and Mr. Chilton, RIP. Any reformed person, regardless of your spectrum, will benefit from this book, even if you disagree. These could not be more comprehensive and concise. Get em while you can before the woke people ban them.PS. Hyper preterism is heresy.
⭐I’ve bought and given away more copies of this book than any other, the second being The Triumph of Christianity by Rodney Stark. I generally steer away from reading religious books, other than biographies of great missionaries and statesmen, because I think it takes time away from Bible reading and may even lead one astray. But I made exceptions for the two mentioned here and highly recommend them both. Paradise Restored lays to rest the fairy tales about the rapture, the future tribulation, the millennium, and the anti-christ. If you’re confused about all of this and wonder where people come up with it, this book will explain it all to you, using scripture to interpret scripture. About half the book, in fact, is scripture passages that illustrate Chilton’s clearly stated claims. He also includes a lengthy excerpt from Josephus as a post-script. Chilton expounds upon the church’s historic view of the future, which is Christ victorious over all. Please read it!
⭐The best thing I ever did was walk away from dispensationalism. This book is easy to read, easy to understand with biblical grounding.
⭐I first read this book in 1988 and it revolutionized not only my eschatology but my daily life. In a sea of futuristic speculations, Chilton directs the reader to focus on Jesus and his Kingdom, both here and now as well as in eternity. He takes the emphasis off of the Beast, the Antichrist, the Dragon, the doom and gloom of Dispensationalism and places it on King Jesus and his ongoing conquering of the nations. When David Chilton died, we lost a great exegete and author.
⭐An excellent read on a topic that is so important to how we view the world and everyone around us. I don’t agree with the author on everything (I don’t believe in a second coming and I don’t believe the Bible is inerrant, the Bible does not make that claim about itself), but I I enjoyed many of the topics.
⭐This book is needled by the church. We are not called to be loosers but winners for God. This book is full of scripture. Read it with your Bible opened next to it.
⭐A lot of compelling discussion about the concept of building up the kingdom of God, rather than abandoning the world waiting to be raptured out of it. The kingdom building described isn’t an empty “social gospel” centered just on promoting whatever rights or justice are fashionable, but rather on building a cultre, society and world in which God is in His proper place at the top and mankind in its proper place exercising godly dominion over the earth, bringing social and ecological harmony. Such harmony is not from elevating man or nature, but rather by elevating God, freeing man to reclaim dominion under God’s authority and bringing about renewal in the natural world. I found the emphasis on kingdom building thought provoking, as Chilton seemed to present a convincing argument for being a “Martha” type person in the world but with a “Mary” type attitude and motivation behind it all. The discussion about ecological renewal and harmony was less convincing, but this is a good book overall for introducing dominion theology and postmillenial type views.
⭐I liked its content, condition and price. I was also impressed by the early delivery date
