Description

Primordial Cosmology deals with one of the most puzzling and fascinating topics debated in modern physics — the nature of the Big Bang singularity. The authors provide a self-consistent and complete treatment of the very early Universe dynamics, passing through a concise discussion of the Standard Cosmological Model, a precise characterization of the role played by the theory of inflation, up to a detailed analysis of the anisotropic and inhomogeneous cosmological models. The most peculiar feature of this book is its uniqueness in treating advanced topics of quantum cosmology with a well-traced link to more canonical and pedagogical notions of fundamental cosmology. This book traces clearly the backward temporal evolution of the Universe, starting with the Robertson-Walker geometry and ending with the recent results of loop quantum cosmology in view of the Big Bounce. The reader is accompanied in this journey by an initial technical presentation which, thanks to the fundamental tools given earlier in the book, never seems heavy or obscure.

User’s Reviews

Editorial Reviews: Review In the second portion of this work, the mathematical and quantum approaches are elegantly and comprehensively explored. It will take the diligent reader into fresh realms of insight and stimulation in an examination of the very dawn of our cosmos. — Contemporary Physics “Contemporary Physics” From the Back Cover Primordial Cosmology deals with one of the most puzzling and fascinating topics debated in modern physics the nature of the Big Bang singularity. Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Though the book itself is packed with great information on advanced mathematical cosmology and written very well, the paperback version of this book has been reprinted by World Scientific (in Singapore, as it says on the copyright page) very poorly. It is such a bad reproduction that it looks like it’s been photocopied on a fax machine from the 1990’s. On every page, the text is so small that it covers only about 75% of the page. Many of the diagrams are so blurry that no information can be discerned from them (e.g., on page 65, the diagram showing the lapse and shift vectors, cannot be read at all). If you plan to buy this book, buy the hardcover version but beware: I thought I had ordered the hardcover from Amazon, but the paperback version arrived (a problem which is currently under review by Amazon). So five stars for the book itself, but one star for the extremely poor judgement by World Scientific in allowing such a shoddy reproduction of such an excellent textbook.
