User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Enjoyed reading this accessible guide to quantum mechanics. It is a great introduction and really made me want to read and learn more about this topic.

⭐Very good introduction to basic ideas of Quantum mechanics. Good overview

⭐Be careful. This book is only 27 pages long. If you think any book that length is worth $10–go for it. Frankly, I don’t.

⭐This is a concise and precise book on a thought-provoking subject for laymen. Highly recommended!

⭐Tiny book with hardly any real depth.

⭐When will I learn to check the page count! So if you’re buying this book hoping it will be a good read that will occupy your time and tax you mentally….. you’re in for a big disappointment. The book measures 18cm x 12cm x 0.7cm (0.35cm excluding the covers), it has 50 pages of which 25 are pictures. When you consider that you can buy “Brief Answers to the Big Questions: the final book from Stephen Hawking” which is 270 pages of actual content for £7.50….. this book starts to look like a bit of a rip off.All in all thoroughly disappointing. I would not recommend this book.If it was £3 rather than £8 I could possibly reccomend it for a 10/11 year old.

⭐I’m a big fan of these Ladybird Expert books. No, they’re not designed for children, they’re really to provide a basic intro to a subject to an adult, or at least elder teenage, audience. In common with the classic Ladybird books of old, they are beautifully illustrated. This series takes subject matter experts to give you an introduction to a subject, be it witchcraft or quantum mechanics. You can’t possibly do a full intro to a subject in a book this size, it’s something I’d describe as being able to read whilst having a cup of the or whatever, a fun distraction for a few minutes. But this is where my issue is, the full list prize is between £8 and £9, and that’s just too much. For the same money you could buy a secondhand textbook, or a new work of fiction, and get hours more enjoyment from it. If it was priced nearer £5 it would make more sense, or maybe I’m just showing my age.The writing is very well edited and presented, so I can’t fault that, or the wonderful illustrations.Still, if you can buy them at a cheaper rate, or secondhand, worth buying.

⭐This book is more than a gem. It is a literary portal into the fascinating science of ‘Quantum Mechanics’. As one contributor wrote in his review, do not underestimate this book because it is a Ladybird edition. It is a Ladybird Expert book and correctly stated in my opinion. The book arrived yesterday (July 16, 2018) and I have already devoured the content on a Pac-man scale. Yes, I will re-read the content several times to grasp every gem of information. Almost every chapter begins with a snippet of historical context and then launches into the science in a non-complex way. Professor Al-Khalili’s approach in this book tempts the reader to challenge his/her own thinking. I for one, am thankful for that.According to the back cover, there are two other titles which may appeal (1) Climate Change and (2) Evolution – makes for some anticipated fascinating reading.I have pleasure in highly recommending this book.

⭐Not a bad book but the ratio price over quantity is scandalously high. There are 25 pages with a drawing only. The 25 other pages are filled with short paragraphs. About 900 words in all. I was expecting so much more content.

⭐Yes, there are equations in there, but they appear on the picture page and not in the writing. It is a prosaic introduction to the essential ideas about quantum mechanics. Looking again that’s exactly one equation, Heisenberg’s Principle of Uncertainty, on the picture pages. And there is at least one Schrödinger’s cat – or perhaps not. There is a mathematical physics theory of (number of equations in the book) times (number of people who read the book) equals a constant. With only a picture of an equation this should be read by many.
