⭐I use this for reviewing this subject I learned 40 years ago.

⭐The simple sounding title suggests some watered-down introduction to Calculus I and II. Not so. Rather, it’s a perfect example of what the famous mathematician, Morris Kline said in his own book on Calculus long ago: “Rigor undoubtedly refines the intuition but does not supplant it.” Meaning, teach what the concepts mean, physically and geometrically, have the student internalize them by working a sufficient number of problems, and only then..after the individual has a knowledgeable, working understanding of the concepts and their applications…delve into the ‘rigor,’ as is the purpose of a solid Calculus III course (“Advanced Calculus.”)This is what this books does: it explains, in a concrete and yet stylized fashion, the essential concepts that underlie the Differential and Integral Calculus. It then proceeds to give enough practice problems that..by the student working through all, or at the very least most of them..will drive the points home into his own head.Yes, every conceivable part of the Calculus is not here. For instance: in Limits, he explains the how to find the limit of a function by the Process of Substitution, and leaves it at that. But nowhere did I see him discuss the processes of either the Factor Method or the Conjugate Method for limit determinations that do not yield to simple substitution. Still, these other methods will be encountered quickly enough in any standard course in the subject.Whether for brush up, as an incredible study aid for a course, or for self-study when struggling with a ‘standard text’ in the field, this book is a true gem. I was given a copy to review for a friend’s son. While I did not spend a great deal of time going through it, my thirty-three years as a research physicist enabled me to form these opinions expressed here, and to recommend this book to my friend. In the end, I was so impressed by it, that I bought several copies for a few people I know, as well as one for myself, just to have.If there were more than 5 stars, I would certainly give it to this author, and his splendid book.

⭐I like the manner of review; there is a sense of a developing foundation for the more involved problems to come. Presentation is just a little lackluster, but that’s Schaums.

⭐The paperback book was received in mint condition from On-Line-Books. This in itself is very rare, and obviates any extra work. This edition and only this editon, contains a new and valid “derivation” not contained in higher level texts by many authors, including T.M. Apostle at the University of Cal Tech!Further it has been silently removed from the newer editions of Schaum’s ” Beginning Calculus. This book also tries to merge the correct expressions for “functions” with America’s and the UK’s ancient comprehension of the thin truth! All other American authors then follow the errors in plagerizing data from the large vat of computerized “mathematical spam!” Aparently thee authors of the common core concept with with the Gods, or in fact with the Druids/MI6/USA Big 5! This older edition is the correct one – not the newer ones!

⭐I feel that when he should have been presenting straightforward problems to ensure that the main concepts & formulas where being internalized, he all too often opts for tricky problems. I write this criticism after having wrestled with this book for 1 year.

⭐The book arrived like a rabbit, quick and swift. The quality was excellent, the pages intact, the cover clean and spotless. It was just like a new book fresh from the press. This is an excellent book for beginners in calculus, with lots of conceptual problems and the like. enjoy guys

⭐Like most Schaumburg outlines, it is excellent by virtue of the many solved problems included.

⭐I was very pleased with my book even though i was worried it might have been a little damaged. but once i opened the package, i realized it was good as new; maybe actually new 😀
