Editorial Reviews: From the Back Cover Put your office and more in the palm of your hand! Manage contacts, tasks, and appointments, send e-mail, and play gamesYour Sony CLIÉ is an amazing gadget, and with this book to guide you, it’ll soon become your best friend. Sure, it keeps your schedule, to-do list, and address book, but did you know it’ll also play music and movies, show off pictures of the kids, and maybe even take them, too? His articles have appeared in a variety of magazines ranging from pioneering technology/science publications Compute! and OMNI to Wired, Entertainment Weekly, Computer Gaming World, Computer Shopper, and Handheld Computing magazine. He has written a number of books, such as the one you’re holding, and has appeared on Tech TV and CNN. He’s been using handhelds since the days of the original Apple “I don’t understand what you’re trying to write” Newton. He practices what he preaches, typically traveling with a CLIÉ, a folding keyboard, and a Bluetooth cell phone instead of a bulky laptop. Atkin lives with his wife and son in Vermont, where he’s doing long-term tests of the CLIÉ’s ability to operate during ridiculously lengthy periods of sub-zero temperatures.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I picked up a used Sony Clie NX80V which did not have a manual. While looking for manuals and software, I ran across this book. It had been a lifesaver. It covers the PDA like no manual does and is fun to read also. Even if you have a Clie with full documentation, this book is a very welcome aid to using the Clie to its full extent.

⭐As a newbie PDA owner, I found the information in Sony Clie for Dummies both informative and essential. Well-organized and packed with lively, plain English instructions, the Sony Clie for Dummies book is much more than a manual. This book covers a little bit of everything relating to this wonderful Palm OS based handheld. In addition to the basics concerning the address book, date book, To Do List, Hot Synch, and the Palm Desktop for Clie, the author does an excellent job of documenting many of the essential third-party programs that make the handheld a complete pocket computer. Programs like Documents To Go, Agendus, and various games are all covered in detail. This book has not only helped me understand and use my PDA device much more effectively, but most of the supplemental web links listed in the chapters are still active as of this writing, unlike many books whose links have disappeared by the time they hit the shelves. This is how I found out about accessories like the battery pack charger, the single cable synch/charger, and a few other goodies that I probably wouldn’t have stumbled on to on my own. Fans of the Dummies series will not be disappointed with this one.

⭐Knowing little about this type of PDA, I chose the “Dummies” aid to assist me. I’ve used these manuals in the past for other units. While some sections are basic and not needed, many are absolutely necessary to either understand or expand understanding of certain functions. They also allow me to return to areas that weren’t needed initially, but surface at a later date. It’s much easier for me to sit with the manual in front of me than to scroll through the chapter/section on a computer screen.
