It gives a nice description of the roots of SR and is not too mathematically demanding (for a Physics student)

⭐I don’t understand who this book is for.It is far too technical for the lay person and far too abbreviated for a physicist.Being a classically trained physicist myself, I can’t think of anyone I could recommend this book to, sadly.Now I know why my local library removed this book from circulation and gave it away for free.

⭐「A First Encounter」は「最初の出会い」だと思いますが、ニュアンスが間違っていたら御免なさい。薄くて小型の本で、専門書なのか解説書なのか？迷うところですが、特殊相対論を簡潔にまとめた本と考えるとよいかも知れません。特殊相対論を詳しく解説した本ではありませんので、ご注意を・・・。詳しい数式の扱いや４元ベクトル、時空図についての説明はありません。しかし、日本人の先生方が書かれた特殊相対論の教科書には記載されていない事が書かれていたりして、結構楽しい本ですよ。例えば、光の位相速度も群速度も真空中の光の速さを超える場合がある事も、詳しくはないですが、記述されています（光学を勉強された方はご存じだと思いますが、そうでない方は「異常分散」を調べてみて下さい）。物理学に馴染みの無い方には難しい本だと思いますが、そうでないなら特殊相対論の初学者の方でも読めると思います。でも、やっぱり特殊相対論を１度勉強されてから読んだ方が楽しめるでしょう。高価な本でもありませんので、勉強しながら、資料としてチラチラ見る、なんて使い方もありだと思います。ただし、パラドックスについては書かれていませんので、パラドックスに興味のある方は、期待しないで下さい。
