Description
The Big Questions’ series is designed to let renowned experts confront the 20 most fundamental and frequently asked questions of a major branch of science or philosophy. In ‘The Big Questions: Mind’ the explanations behind the ‘mysteries’ of our unique minds – including how they differ from our brains and how they create our awareness – are explored. Among the questions discussed are: How do brains come to exist? Is the mind more than the brain? What does it mean to be conscious? What is knowledge? Does the mind play tricks? What is the ‘I’ in our brain?
User’s Reviews
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Excellent read for the layman
⭐Well I learned something new. Also confirmed a view that children brought up in our increasingly electronic world may lose the capacity for deep thinking.
⭐Really wanted to like this book. Most questions are answered with authors philosophical views and opinions. No direct references are provided for the source of studies mentioned in the book. Given that there are 1000’s studies and journal articles about the subject of brain & the mind, without references for the answers to backup, it is hard to objectively take them seriously.
