Description

Here then is the fruit of Elena Kuz’mina’s life-long quest for the Indo-Iranians. Already its predecessor (Otkuda prishli indoarii?, published in 1994) was considered the most comprehensive analysis of the origins of the Indo-Iranians ever published, but in this new, significantly expanded edition (edited by J.P. Mallory) we find an encyclopaedic account of the Andronovo culture of Eurasia. Taking its evidence from archaeology, linguistics, ethnology, mythology, and physical anthropology pertaining to Indo-Iranian origins and expansions, it comprehensively covers the relationships of this culture with neighboring areas and cultures, and its role in the foundation of the Indo-Iranian peoples.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐The book isn’t cheap and the subject matter caters to an esoteric interest but in terms of depth and breadth of subject, thoroughness and integrity of research, this magnum opus constituting the life’s work of the Russian Archeologist Elena Kuzimina (RIP) is second to none. Competently translated, it reads with remarkable clarity for a book of it’s vastness. This book should remove any doubt that the languages of modern day South Asia (Iran to India) evolved in the forest steppe around the Urals in the beginning of the second millennium BC and spread out in three directions powered by chariots, metal-working, and horsemanship.Taken with David Anthony’s ‘The Horse, the Wheel, and Language’, you’ll have all you need on the subject of the mysterious prehistoric Indo-Europeans.
