Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Author of this Atlas is a Greek and Roman scholar. Consequently 90% of the work centers on these areas. There is very little on the other ancient civilizations that precede Greece and Rome. Keep in mind that being an atlas there is a minimal amount of textual explanations. All maps are very clear, however, all are printed in black and white. This is an excellent reference for anyone studying ancient Greece and/or Rome. As regard the history of Rome, Michael Grant’s History of Rome is a good start. As regards the fall of the empire, I would recommend Peter Heather’s “The Fall of the Roman Empire” and Adrian Goldsworthy’s “How Rome Fell.” One book focus on the external pressures created by invasion; the other emphasizes internal disintegration. If you are in to a super detailed version of the fall of Rome, there is always Edward Gibbon’s classic 6 to 8 volume history first published in the 1770s to 1780s. Gibbon lays a great deal of blame for the fall of Rome on its conversion to Christianity.
⭐At first glance there appears to be a great deal of useful information. However, I wish I had looked more closely at the description. For the price, I assumed that it would (a) be bigger, (b) be in colour and (c) have a good deal more explanation. I am tempted to add some of the things I think ought to be there. My advice is to use the ”Look Inside” icon and make sure this is the book for you. I think it is a shame that to have collated so much information that the producers would not do their efforts more justice.3 stars given for an easy access atlas. I’ll be on the look out for something way more exhaustive than this.
⭐Atlas arrived ahead of schedule. I’m not easily pleased; but its something I’ve been searching for, for ages. It’s a gold mine of maps and information. More importantly it’s clearly presented with printed words easily readable. Great stuff.
⭐Exactly what I was looking for and I am very pleased with it. Contained everyth ing that I was looking for and good value at a reasonable cost.
