⭐Tells mostly all one might want to know about Turing from several different perspectives. A good overall guide to anyone who wants to probe deeper. While some of the authors are not professional writers, their unique and personal interaction with Turing, and their expression of it in this book, overcomes any deficits in their writing prowess.

⭐I have an interest in the history of ciphers and encryption (having worked in IT for over 40 years and specialised in security and cyber forensics) and was told about this book when I met one of the authors at a BCS event. I bought a copy because I believed that it had been written by 4 authors (as listed on the front cover) but I was wrong. There are over 30 subject matter experts who have given of their time and expertise to make this one of the best books on Turing around.If you have an interest in the history of codes and code breaking, buy this book. If you want to learn more about Alan Turing the man, buy this book. If you just enjoy a well researched and brilliantly written book, well then buy this book.I have ordered a second copy for my grand-niece who is doing her A levels and wants to study maths and physics. She will love it.

⭐I found this a very full and interesting account of historic value.Particularly good for me as a mathematician and scientist.

⭐I’ve read a lot about Turing but this is a refreshing and really accessible collection of essays.Varied, and interesting, this book is really easy to dip in and out of or sit down for a while with.Beautifully presented Turing really seems alive in this 21st Century guide.

⭐The person Turing even with this book remains an enigma. But his contribution and those of others to mathematics, the war effort and computing become clear. He was though an important figurehead then and now.Surprising good and understandable introduction to certain subjects in computer science. Better than some dedicated books on the subject.

⭐Amazing to have a single book collating insight into Turing’s work by people who have worked with him, who studied his contributions, who got fascinated by his contributions. The content is not from a single author, but it is a compendium of articles from various people. Each article can be read independently on its own.
