User’s Reviews

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Dr. Gunter cites research in an even handed, informed way. Being someone who taught empirical design, I appreciate her insights and references, so I could read the studies myself. This book has been such a gift for me as I navigate GMS. It has really helped me advocate for myself with my health providers; I can describe symptoms more accurately and ask better questions, which helps both Drs and patients.

⭐I liked this book because I could reference to specific issues without having to read the entire book. I would highly recommend it to any woman.

⭐At age 74, I looked at this book and wondered, “what more is there to learn?”. Lots! Even after reading “Masters and Johnson,” “The Kinsey Report,” and “Our Bodies Ourselves” so long ago; LOTS. Informative for women of all ages, this book is crammed with interesting and important medical information to help us be proud, self-assured, and healthier women.

⭐I do think this is a good book for any woman at any age to read, as it does include some very good and detailed information about certain areas you may not wish to ask your GYN, or might get some sort of generic answer in return. So I do think this is a helpful tool, more as an encyclopedia for woman to go to when a question arises, but I felt it was rather poorly laid out. There were certain things I would read and want to know more about only for her to change the course of topic. As I continued reading I would see that she had addressed the same topic somewhere else in more detail. I think one of the main issues I had is the author almost paints Doctor’s to be just drug salesman who don’t care for you other than trying to get you to use a specific product. She could be correct, and I’m sure this is done by some Doctor’s, but it more so came across as her calling the entire medical system a fraud. Some of her recommendations I do not personally agree with, because she had addressed different product that don’t help but are actually harmful to woman. Some of these products have helped me considerably. At the end of the day, this is one woman’s opinions, but every person and every body is different, so I would take what she says in this text with a grain of salt.

⭐Easy to read and understand. Gives breakdown of many causes and solutions that can be used to increase vaginal health

⭐Oh. Em. Gee!!! A friend of mine, a retired MD, suggested I read this, and he also suggested it should be required reading for all medical students. As a lay person, I agree. I could hardly put it down.It does read more like a textbook than a novel, but Dr. Gunter talks about a subject with ease, and humor, that many still find almost embarrassing to bring up. Myself included. I was raised in a very conservative family, and one just didn’t talk about such things unless in euphemism. For me, this book is a godsend, and I truly wish I’d had it when I was young and in child-bearing years! If you think there is nothing humorous to write about a vagina, start with the cover of the book, a pink zipper, opened. All those teeth!!! 😉 And go from there. I laughed out loud often.I read this book cover to cover, but it would also be a great book just to keep on your reference shelf. Or, read it cover to cover and then put it on your reference shelf.I believe Ayelet Walman said it bed, “But this book if you have a vagina or if you spend any time at all in reasonably close proximity to one.” If you have a vagina, or know someone who does, I heartily recommend this book.

⭐This book is well written and contains a wealth of information. As it says on the cover: “Buy this book if you have a vagina or if you spend any time at all in reasonably close proximity to one.” A great book to get for your daughters and your sons.

⭐OBGYN who gained social media buzz thanks to her “Myth Buster’s” like the prowling of Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP. “The Vagina Bible” is a scientific, fact-based answer to the gobbledygook of GOOP. The foreword reads “for every woman who has ever been told by some dude that she is too wet, too dry, too gross, too loose, too tight, too bloody, too smelly, this book is for you.”This book answers all of the questions you’ve been too afraid to ask, some you didn’t know to ask, and dispels myths about new age gynecological healing. Spend under $20 and get the book. It will save you thousands on regimes you don’t need — stuff that can actually be dangerous — and free up all those hours of internet surfing we do to answer simple questions such as “How do I know if I have a UTI?” and “Does yogurt cure a yeast infection?” (No). More importantly, the book arms women with a tool they can use to speak candidly with their doctors. She believes in informed consent: Give the patient all the facts and let the patient make the decisions. Wow, how refreshing to find a Dr. that actually believes patients can think.Dr. Gunter did her research and shared it with the rest of us. In doing so, she has become all women’s Dr. For that we should thank her.

⭐Firstly, I’m male; secondly a fan of Dr Gunter. Dr Gunter is a Canadian Ob/Gyn and a campaigner for women’s health and rights.Dr Gunter’s style is straight-forward, humorous, no-nonsense and devoid of any coyness. My poor (male) brain is struggling with the number and range of subjects she covers.I don’t know if every woman should have a copy but I do think every man should.

⭐Every woman on earth should have access to a copy of this book!An essential and informative book written in an accessible and enjoyable style.Brilliant.

⭐Think I was taken in by the hype. First note it’s American which is irritating to UK readers. second it didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know and I’m not that clever. The chapter on menopause related issues was probably the most disappointing Imo. So all in all I wouldn’t recommend it at all and I think it was a waste of money.

⭐Really interesting, and an excellent resource. I would note, the focus is very much on the health of the vagina, so there’s nothing about other parts of the reproductive system. It covers what it says it will, and absolutely nothing more or less. But obviously there are more things to consider than just your vagina when choosing, say, contraceptives. Thus this is an enlightening read (not least for what I now realise some people do! omg…) but it’s not the first and last word on all things women’s health, just one part of it.

⭐Very very informative. A must read for everyone, woman, teens, dads, husband. We can always learn more. I thought the book was fantastic just what I’ve been waiting for. There’s not many books out about woman’s issues including pelvic organ Prolapse but this book I would highly recommend it covers a wide range of topics. Brilliant.
