⭐Erudite but perhaps rather specialist. I assumed from the “portrait” in the title that it would treat of the whole biography, or at least treat the rather arcane early philosophy biographically. But this really is a dip into arcane and long-forgotten philosophical debates. It is well-executed but of limited general interest, even to people like me with a life-long interest in Benjamin.
