From Publishers Weekly This companion volume to Coelho’s popular The Alchemist is an odd hybrid-a self-help manual with fictional overtones; a series of aphorisms and platitudes set within the frame of the sketchiest of parables. In the parable, a boy meets a beautiful woman at a beach, who proceeds to tell him about a hidden undersea temple near a vanished island. The boy fails in his initial attempt to find the temple, though he hears its bells ring, but later, as a grown man, he again meets the woman, who hands him an empty notebook and directs him to write about the “Warrior of the Light,” a being who is “capable of understanding the miracle of life, of fighting to the last for something he believes in-and of hearing the bells that the waves set ringing on the seabed.” Some of the aphorisms that follow have a specific spiritual source-Lao Tzu, Gandhi, Jesus and Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, among others, are quoted. Coelho provides general spiritual inspiration, but he also offers guidance in more mundane matters, explaining the specific motivations behind childish, immature behavior, cowardly moments, feelings of spiritual emptiness and the reluctance to change. Some of these passages are original, but others merely repackage common inspirational fodder. The volume preserves the basic spiritual tone of The Alchemist, but readers expecting comparable depth and substance will be disappointed.Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information, Inc. –This text refers to the paperback edition. ⭐ Okay, a little bit about Paulo Coelho and the Warrior of the Light. On its surface, it’s an easy read. However, to truly understand the life lessons that Coelho is outlining takes thought and soul searching. I am going through for the third time, reading one of the short chapters, and then determining how to best apply Coelho’s words to my life. Definitely a worthwhile investment in terms of the money, the time, and the energy. A wonderful life learning tool.

⭐ After reading Manuscript Found in Accra (which was absolutely mind blowing and a must read in my opinion), I came across this book at a book store and flipped through it.Once again, I hit upon a simple read with pearls of thought and contemplation that staggered my senses. This book is more a collection of thoughts than a cohesive story and I found myself lost in them. Many times I would stop reading after just one page left in awe contemplating what I had just read and how the lesson within the text applied to me.If you’re a fellow student of life and search for a deeper understanding and meaning to your time on this planet, then I highly recommend this book. I’m confident your experience will be similar to mine!

⭐ In respect, I come from a lot of trauma in life; I don’t dare try to say I know another man’s troubles, but I know what it is like to come from a place of being worried about everything to a place where I am enjoying the scenery and looking forward to what may be. Paul Coelho turns the tables yet again with a fascinating way of bringing about an interesting story, rather, parable, for the reawakening of one’s Soul – the Warrior of the Light. Filled with wisdom from multiple cultures and walks of Life. These are all Truths that can be found all over: at any age, on any side of a political spectrum, on a battlefield, in a courtroom, on the job, at home with family. And he manages to fit it such a beautiful way that I never tire from reading, nor feel like I’m stumbling through some wordy dissertation. Encore!

⭐ Probably a generous four stars here, but it is well written, and full of good advice. And a bit of a spoiler that was at the end of the book that might have better been placed at the beginning: the meat of the book consists of a series of articles published over a three year period. The book starts and ends with a shell of a story, but nothing more than a shell is given. It’s like returning to The Alchemist, but instead of creating a parable to teach a series of truths about life, Coelho just puts his maxims out there. And they’re good maxims, but it’s not nearly as charming when it’s just good advice for living. In the end, it’s worth checking out, and it’s a quick read – just don’t look for rich storytelling. I suppose the value in it is that Coelho is giving you direct advice for living your own story.

⭐ Its really a manual for life. I recommend a first read, then you read and make notes so that you can put theory into practice.

⭐ My first book by this author and I’m sorely disappointed. The prologue is far more interesting than the main text, so much so that I’m having to force myself to continue reading it in hopes of finding nuggets of inspiration somewhere. After reading about this author, and reading blog posts about him, with quotes from his writings, I was hoping for so much more from this little book.I consider it the little book that couldn’t- inspire me to read more of it!

⭐ Being very interested in books for rulers, I was struck by this text: without personal experience in governance the geniality of the author enabled him to create a primer for political leaders superior to nearly all the books trying to provide guidance to leaders. For sure, I will include it as obligatory reading and rereading in my next book for rulership aspirants.Professor Yehezkel DrorThe Hebrew University of Jerusalem

⭐ This book is amazing. I first heard about it from an instructor who was teaching a class on crystals and healing. She would read pages from the book before each class. It is beautifully written. It is thought provoking. It is something where you breathe into the words after reading them and reflect. I love the paper that is published on. Like a thick old fashioned style writing paper. What a special book! I’m so thankful that I learned of this book. It is a treasure.

⭐ I love “the alchemists” and wanted to read more of this author’s books. I read some already and did enjoy them. However, this one is a miss with me. Feels like a book forcing itself to be a self help book. Or a bunch of random thoughts and notes that weren’t used in other works so he just threw them into a book with no story. Not to many moments that really hit with me. I didn’t get to inspired but there were two moments that I realized something I could improve in life which is why I didn’t give it one star. Wouldn’t recommend this book. He’s written better.

⭐ In the tradition of The Art of War and The Prince, Coelho has written The Warrior of Light, a compendium of wisdom originally published as a series of Newspaper articles in Brazil. This book is dense, but not difficult to understand for those on ‘The Path’. By dense I mean I found my self highlighting whole pages. This is more a book of contemplation to be read and reread. Many will recognize universal truths without. That being said there are times that the author seems to go a sentence to far and it seems inconsistent with truth. The author later states that the warrior of Light does not concern himself with these inconsistencies.
