Description

What is Quantum Mechanics? A Physics Adventure comprehensively traces the historical development of quantum mechanics, treating a complex subject in a light-hearted, user-friendly manner. It not only introduces the reader to the concepts of quantum mechanics, but also tells the story behind the theories. It is easy to understand for beginners because it was written by people going through the learning process themselves. Yet, even the seasoned scientist will enjoy the controversy and drama as the development of physics unfolds in the book.Dr. Yoichiro Nambu, 2008 Nobel Prize Winner in Physics, served as a senior adviser to the student authors of What is Quantum Mechanics? A Physics Adventure at the Transnational College of LEX throughout their journey of discovery.

User’s Reviews

Editorial Reviews: Review Searching for a new way to help your chemistry and physics students understand quantum mechanics? This new book tackles the development of quantum mechanics in an easy-to-understand manner. Science teachers looking to give a new spin on their discussion of these physics principles can rely on this excellent resource. The book covers every major accomplishment in quantum mechanics over the past 100 years. It starts with the early experiments that tried to determine the nature of light and moves forward, concluding with Heisenberg s uncertainty principle, which finally explained the dual nature of light. The author uses many illustrations to keep the tone of the material light-hearted and user-friendly. They are particularly valuable in helping readers with the mathematics that is essential in all of the major accomplishments discussed throughout the book. Additionally, the book provides interesting stories about the scientists behind these groundbreaking accomplishments; these stories show that science has a history and that all ideas and discoveries are works in progress. Finally, the book provides two detailed indexes that help readers find specific facts to help them review the material. This could be a wonderful resource for a teacher looking for a new way to help their students understand one of the more challenging, yet important, topics in physics and chemistry. The book is written for the individual who is new to ideas that were crucial to our understanding of the essential questions in physics during the past century. Students who were learning about quantum mechanics wrote the book with the guidance of experts in the field. As a result, they present the information in a way that allows beginning chemistry and physics students to better understand these challenging concepts. –National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) – 2009 From the Back Cover What is Quantum Mechanics? About the Author The Transnational College of LEX (TCL) in Tokyo, Japan, is a research institute run by the Hippo Family Club, an organization dedicated to the natural acquisition of many languages and to cultural exchange programs. At TCL the subjects of study are the natural science of language and humanity. The students at TCL approach mathematics, physics, biology, and other subjects from a viewpoint that transcends disciplines. They are especially interested in investigating how humans acquire language and in developing a natural learning environment. TCL students gather information, research, and discover together. They are aided by Senior Fellows, experts in their fields who are invited to speak about topics of interest in their own research. Read more

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This shirt along with the Cargo 4000 pants is my go-to set for work. at Male, 5’8, and 152 lbs, the Medium shirt is perfect on me, if a little tight around the arms. The Medium Pants runs a little loose, but it can be squared away with the drawstring. If you’re my size, you could possibly check out small Pants from Cherokee and see what works best for you. For me, Medium on both is fine. After one year of full time use on a set of 7, I have not had to first issue with any of them. They are all tough and can easily go years more. They clean up extremely easily if you ever get blood or something on you, and some old school nurses will tell you the apron pockets are lame, they are NOT LAME, they are COOL and PRACTICAL! ! ! 5 stars. I am not even slightly tempted by more expensive brands. For the price, this shirt is unbeatable!

⭐These are a must. I got them for my boyfriend and they fit so good. From the stretchy material to the pockets and the length of the shirt itself. He is usually a size L or XL but the large fit better. He has a long torso and we didn’t need the Tall because the shirt was long enough to not show tummy when he lifts his arms. I recommend getting them.

⭐no it is only shirt

⭐Very comfortable and good pockets..maybe pen pocket could be deeper, but bought a second pair.

⭐Came in record time, fits as expected

⭐Used in a dental office and looks great!

⭐Lots of pockets.

⭐Washes up great. Great fit.

⭐This is a very good book and a good introduction to Quantum Mechanics. I recommend to read the book Who is Fourier by the same publisher and organisation before. It will be easier to grasp intuitive mathematical explanations.

⭐Waiting to finish “Who is Fournier?” To master this one…
