⭐ An interesting if predictable read. Quite dated, but worth a few hours of your time to Swiss through it. Enjoy and onto the next. Xxx

⭐ Most of JHC’s books are worth reading. This is one of them. It is amazing how he thinks of so many unexpected twists and turns to the plot.

⭐ Zinc and copper magnate Felix Malraux, one of the wealthiest men in the world, becomes the victim of an extortion bid. His wife Rhea and daughter Odette (his daughter by a previous wife) hatch a scheme to extort ransom money by means of a fake kidnapping ploy; Odette is to go into hiding, her father is to told she is kidnapped, and ransom is to be demanded. Rhea and Odette recruit Harry Barber, who has been in jail on trumped up charges, as a partner in their nefarious undertaking. Barber, an ex-convict, stigmatised and demoralised by not being able to get a job, is enticed by a promised share of the ransom loot. Hooked by greed, he makes a plan for Odette to disappear in circumstances which suggest that she has been kidnapped and arranges for the ransom to be collected. But all is not what it seems. There is bigger plot afoot—there are wheels within wheels and Barber has been taken for a ride. Things rapidly spin out of control, with the police and the FBI coming into the picture. Will Barber extricate himself from the mess he is in and resume a normal life with his loving wife Nina? Read this thriller by James Hadley Chase to find out.

⭐ When I was young I read all James Hadly Chase books. You just can’t put the book down. I choose this book for my grand daughter and is really the best for kids also
