⭐This is a great companion to your favorite “Mathematical Methods for Physicists” text. (I was introduced to Complex Analysis in that context when I was a sexy Physics Major in the 80’s.)A review of Complex Analysis & Contour Integrals is motivated by a current task related to Signal Processing, as a Grey Beard!There’s lots of worked examples, problems to work (with solutions), and a number of theorems not covered in a Math Methods text.From my experience from Graduate Mathematics courses, this has a rich section on applications to illustrate the use of the more abstract theorems.I’ve had fun with it!

⭐I bought this to help me in a complex variables class in addition to the main text:

⭐.The Fischer is pretty terrible (see my review there), but this book is great. At the beginning of each section it quickly and expertly explains all the formulas, propositions, and theorems. It then lists all the important definitions. It follows this “overview” (which I’ve been using as my primary text) with hundreds of examples. The steps are clear in each one, and often the problems are worked in different ways to show you different approaches that you can take.This book has been invaluable and I’d highly recommend it to anyone taking a college level complex analysis course. It may be a bit basic for a graduate level student, but most of the graduate students in my class seem to really like it.

⭐I never took a course in complex variables so a professor recommended this book to me. The format is simple and straighforward. Every chapter begins with a terse exposition of the subject matter to be covered. Immediately following is a longer section of “solved problems,” where the theory is put into use. The final section consists of problems for the student to solve. The techniques necessary to solve these problems are covered in the earlier “solved problems” section. It is apparently intended as a supplementary textbook, although to me the book seems perfectly adequate by itself for self teaching. No good if you like to learn through reading alone, but for the hands-on type it is very good.

⭐I’ve had three Schaum’s outlines so far (Advanced Mathematics.., Mechanical Vibrations, Complex Variables) and this one is just as useful as the others.It’s a great resource if you are someone who needs to see examples of math problems to gain proficiency. I don’t do well going from theory to application to execution without seeing a few examples, and that is exactly what this outline does. It also has many many such examples that are clearly explained without making the “leaps of abstraction” that can easily lose the less experienced students.If you are taking a course in Complex Variables, or are considering studying complex analysis this book is definitely worth the money.

⭐This was a nice book, generally. Naturally, it should be read in conjunction with a more theorom based text, but it summarized a lot of material and gave a wide range of good worked-out problems.My only complaint was that sometimes the OCR scanning that must have been done on the text resulted in some notation mistakes in equations. One could usually mentally correct these (e.g. an equals sign where it was obvious that there should have been a minus sign). Sometimes, the mental correction wasn’t that easy, though.So, it was a helpful book as long as the above points are kept in mind.

⭐I bought this book to study for a graduate school exam. I took a complex variables course, but needed to refresh and learn a few things beyond what was taught in my class. I couldn’t have passed the exam without this book. It is not loaded down with jargon or abstract theory. It teaches you very practical techniques for solving different classes of problems. It has many fully worked out examples, which you can copy and work out on your own as you practice. If you’re looking for practical help, this is definitely better than a textbook or anything you could find online.

⭐Contents are pretty good and useful. But why on earth is it printed on phone-book quality paper?! It’s so thin it partly spoils the reading experience, one is constantly afraid the paper will tear when turning a page. I’ll happily pay a few dollars extra to have it printed on decent quality paper.

⭐This text would likely be a 5* book if all pages were readable. Such is not the case as may be seen from the photograph. How does one refer to an equation when the label cannot be deciphered? Can’t be done! The index also has the same problem in the copy that was sent to me.Why doesn’t the publisher and or Amazon utilize even a minimal Quality assurance plan?2* for a book lacking clarity due to a publisher who has not paid attention to details.

⭐Great purchase!! I had a module based on complex analysis and mechanics, and this definitely helped loads for the complex analysis part. I noticed that my lecturer had used a few similar/exactly the same questions from this book. Also, it taught me a little bit about how to integrate a definite integral using complex analysis. Would definitely recommend it as a supplement to your studies if it’s relevant to your module. There was a lot of stuff in here which wasn’t as relevant but all in all it was a great purchase for me I don’t think I would have got a good grade otherwise.

⭐Like the rest of the series, this book is mostly for revision of what one needs to know in order to understand the text! But it does that very well.If you want to learn about Complex Variables, then look elsewhere.

⭐I am little surprised my those Reviewers who say this Book is all exercises and no theory or proofs…clearly they havnt understood it…the book is packed with proofs and exercises because that is how one improves one’s technique and application…

⭐…lots of solved examples to make you feel confidant to handle the complex numbers, functions and its calculus.the matter is explained with suitable examples and relevant exercises to imbibe what you have learned. This is a quick way to learn and to be used along the standard more intractable texts and a support.

⭐Very helpful supplementary aid for my teaching.
