Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐This was definitely a God inspired book. The information in it coupled with prayer is revolutionary to marriages on the verge of divorce. If 2 people can honestly open the scriptures and pray, then the valuable information and content of this book will save your marriage. The most sobering part of it all is that the author doesn’t try to kid you, it takes 2 people with an open heart to take the road less traveled for reconciliation to be possible.

⭐Good advice and perspective. Better to read alongside a therapist that can navigate the emotions and actions. This book doesn’t go into fixing destructive behavior patterns but he does give a lot of book recommendations.

⭐Gary Chapman is an amazing Writer! He has a gift & ministry to help Married Couples, no matter what situation you’re in. This is a GREAT book for any couples on the verge of separation or divorce. It increases your Faith & belief in true Love again. Still reading…..

⭐I wanted to make amends to God for filing the annulment before I had fully allowed Him a chance to work in the marriage. Now, I’m satisfied I did all I could do. God knows this. This book guided me though the process, taught me to fight spiritually, and rely on God. I learned patience, forgiveness, and how to wait on God. My ex didn’t come back, but that was a blessing. The miracle was him pocket dialing me and me hearing a conversation that clarified everything. I feel so free! I thought if I “failed” that I would die. I now realize that I didn’t fail at all! I learned to took to God in probably the most difficult situation of my life. The book allowed me to stay with the process and really experience Him working though the situation. Not only did this process heal my heartache, what was revealed to me healed my heartache from the abuse that occurred during the marriage. I am grateful I tried. I learned so much, and now I can move ahead freely. Thanks to God!

⭐My wife are separated and she originally saw this book at B & N. I ordered us both copies to work through…The reality with this book (or others like it), you TRULY have to be open and willing to consider the advice provided. For me, it was quite impactful, helpful – bringing forth issues (and changes) that I needed to acknowledge and make. Although it remains to be seen if/how it may positively impact my wife and lead to reconciliation. That said, I would highly recommend it for anyone willing to not only take a serious look at themselves, but willing to make the changes brought forth by reading same. One more thing…as other’s have pointed out, it is written from a “Christian” perspective/viewpoint. However, you may be doing yourself (and your marriage) a disservice if you dismiss what may prove to be a valuable tool, based on that alone.Best wishes to you in your journey…

⭐I limited my review to just three stars because the book is truly meant for a Christian audience and I know that might not sit well with some people. Small references to scripture become paragraphs as to why you should be a good spouse and reconcile because of God and not because you should give your spouse a chance due to the love you still have for them. Nobody is perfect and Chapman does his best to let his audience know that through self healing and with a strong support system as well as a thirst to be better that there is a chance to reconcile.I still enjoyed the book and appreciate the messages as there was still a lot to learn and take from every chapter. Regardless of your background, taking a step back to look at your marriage from another perspective never hurts and beats the pain you might experience from not fixing it.

⭐Another terrific book by Dr Gary Chapman. I loved his book the Five Love Languages, and this book One More Try is excellent. I was a bit surprised to hear him say that sometimes space is okay, as in separation. He clearly believe in marriage and that any marriage can be salvaged. He gives excellent tips for when tempers flare between couples. Sound advice and common sense based on Biblical principle throughout the entire short book. I think i like that as well, that the book was not too terribly long. I purchased the book during a difficult time in my own marriage, so the length was a plus for me as I read it in a night. I will refer to this on again and again. Even after 30 years of marriage, I still need help in understanding my spouse. I highly recommend this book for all couples. (as well as The Five Love Languages)

⭐I didn’t realize when I bought the book that it was overly religious. I’m one of those terrible holiday Catholics that sends my kids to Catholic school so I don’t have to do it. “In the martial relationship there must be mutual repentance, for almost always the failure has involved both parties.” Here lies the problem with books with a religious bent on saving your marriage. It doesn’t account for issues that are only the fault of one partner such as alcoholism or physical violence that goes with it. It depends on why your marriage is broken! “Judy knew she couldn’t change her husband. But she could change herself. And that set about doing, becoming more loving, more patient, less demanding. It took a long time, but the result was the reward of a strong, deep relationship, “born out of suffering and obedience.”‘ If you’re lack of love and acceptance is because of basic demands like don’t get drunk on Christmas, slam the minivan into your truck, and roll it down the driveway, don’t call me a worthless (insert curse word here) in front of the kids, or don’t smash a laptop because you’re mad then this book won’t do any good. In fact, I’d say it enforces the idea that women should be more tolerant and stay in an abusive or unhealthy situation. The Scripture lesson was so thick and heavy I couldn’t make it past page 25. I can read a book in a few hours, but not this one. Had I handed this to my husband to read it would only reenforce that his bad behavior is my fault. I bought the Anger book by the same author. I hope it’s not like this one.

⭐Good item 10/10

⭐Marriage mixed with God; guaranteed failure

⭐This book literally saved my marriage. It is worth reading if your marriage is on the rocks

⭐I’ve read several other books by this author.I’m very pleased at the conversational tone of this books written style. It is very straightforward to read while also having meaty, practical content. If marriage holds challenges that make married life confusing, this may provide some help as to next steps.Worthwhile purchase!

⭐An excellent book that helps you perfect yourself when your marriage is falling apart. The book also helps you understand all that comes along with faliling marriages-loneliness, anger etc.
