Description

With ruthless precision and an irreverent wisdom that is often shocking, Osho dismembers Christianity in the presence of twenty-one Jesuit priests visiting the resort at the time this series of talks was given. This is Osho at his most candid as he deals with all the unspoken questions anyone from a Christian background might ever want to ask, and speaks on the profound truth available in Zen.

⭐Osho Rajneesh might have been one of the most controversial and daring philosophers to ever live. His insights have been an inspiration to millions of people all over the world. But, at the same time, he might have been one gigantic con artist. Even though he had so many insightful and thought-provoking things to say, he also manipulated many people and used them to his own gain. This is not surprising considering how much power he had over his followers. When one has legions of people ready to bow down on their hands and knees for them, it is almost impossible not to used those people as toys. Rajneesh did this to a great extent, regardless of how much his devotees try to downplay it. Did Rajneesh attain what we call enlightenment? Even some followers who were critical of him believe he did.It is very difficult to tell if he did because he became so corrupt. Then how must one approach Rajneesh? I think the best way to embrace his teachings is to see him as a brilliant communicator, and not the next Buddha. It is up to each individual to embrace his teachings, but not to ruin his or her life. Many people destroyed their lives following Rajneesh, and many people continue to do so following other so-called mystics. When he comes to Osho Rajneesh, one must be cautious, but also read his words carefully. He is a radical, and many times he is wrong. Nobody in this world is right all time.In this book, Rajneesh tackles the Christian religion machine. He believes organized religion, and Christianity especially, is the root causes of human misery around the world. Many people will agree with him, but Rajneesh goes off the deep end at certain moments in this book. I will explain that later. At the same time, many people will disagree with him. Even though organized religion can become corrupt and it had done horrible things, the teachings of religion have also helped people develop meaningful lives. It has taught people good moral character, helped create worthwhile relationships between men, women and family. But, Rajneesh believes religion has done the exact opposite. His answer to organized religion is Zen.I don’t know if Rajneesh realized it or not, but Zen is something very abstract. It is very difficult for many people to understand it, let alone practice. Many people, especially Westerners will find it too far out to practice Zen. I think. In this book, Rajneesh has a lot of funny and fascinating things to say. I don’t know how much of it is true, but I have to check up on it. For example. he claims certain ancient societies and very advanced technologies. They had computers, highways, and nuclear weapons. He believes the Christian religion machine has suppressed the beauty of ancient religions and society, mainly because they were not Christian. Even though many people believe ancient societies were advanced, it still has yet to reach a consensus in the historical and archeological community.Certain parts of the book were a little offensive and I wonder of Rajneesh was just rambling. Many times, when people ramble, they say things they did not meant. For example, Rajneesh blames the family along with organized religion as one of the reasons for the destruction of the individual. I wonder if Rajneesh realizes or did not mention that the majority of the people who are incarcerated come from broken homes or dysfunctional families. Rajneesh criticizes the family for repressing sexual desires. He “blames” the family for not allowing brothers and sisters having sex with each other. This is where I thought Rajneesh was going overboard. There are perfectly good Biological and moral reason why family members should not be having sex with each other. To me, this was just one minor problem with the book. The rest of the boy is an absolute joy to read. He had such a great sense of humor and was so knowledgeable and well read. Rajneesh claims he read more books than anyone during his lifetime. This might be true. He knew so much about so many different subject matters. This is one reason why he was such a masterful communicator. But to truly appreciate his mastery, listen to him talk. It is quite and experience.

⭐I ordered this book because i wanted to know what Osho had to say about christianity. I agree with him. I have been practicing yoga for many years and meditation has helped me
