⭐Thoroughly satisfying narrative of the arising of Relativity and Quantum Mechanics told with focus on two of the major discoverers of the fundamental character of physical reality — a Five-Star read!

⭐This is an excellent look “behind the curtain” at these two great men. You find out little known facts about both of them that make the book hard to put down. Well written with great research done to bring up little known interesting facts and events the normal biographies don’t have.

⭐This is a delightful little book presenting many scientific and personal topics from the lives and achievements of two great physicists. Kleinknecht has a talent for presenting physical phenomena with clarity – like the photoelectric effect or Heisenberg‘ s formulation of quantum mechanics — derived from his long teaching experience. In addition to their scientific contributions, the author includes many aspects of their personal lives, some of them researched by himself. They include attitudes toward religion, family and music . There are also controversial issues to consider, among them their involvement with the war effort in the 1940s, where they found themselves in opposite camps. The author supplies the narrative and leaves the readers to reach their own conclusions. All readers will enjoy the book and will come away with a good impression of discoveries and developments that changed our lives and the world in general.

⭐I wouldn’t claim that I understood all secrets of physics. But in fact, to enjoy this book, you need not! Konrad Kleinknecht tells (obviously) about Einstein and Heisenberg, but also about other well known physicists: Core messages of their work – in understandable words! – and background and contacts and interaction among them. Even without having studied quantum mechanics – or even physics – it becomes clear what their theories have in common and what the differences are.All this is written in an entertaining style, so that there remains no possible excuse for not reading this book.In fact I read this book twice, and I enjoyed it both times very much. I’m sure that now I understand more about the work of theoretical physicists and how the world works (on quantum level).One important difference to ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is, that you really learn something about the practical lifes of theoretical physicists.So I come to the conclusion that I can strongly recommend “Einstein and Heisenberg” to experts (as they will learn a lot about the background) and to laymen (as they will learn a lot about physics without having to study formulas) as well.

⭐Great book, both for physics and biography: Likely to be the most important addition to the public understanding of Heisenberg complex personality since a long time.
