Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐Wow! The book delivers what its title implies. Covering colonial conflicts ranging from the South American wars of independence to the British expeditions into Afghanistan and even the American revolution, this is a great book. It is well -written, well- illustrated and incldues exzcellent descriptions of battles and events. There are good maps to accompany battle descriptions. Few books can cover such a varied subject. This one did it wonderfully. I heartily recommend Fighting Techniques of the Colonial Era: 1776–1914. This wonderful texts covers a wide range of armies, wars and regions. Especially useful for the military history buff who wants a good overview of colonial-type warfare worldwide.
⭐This book was not quite what I had expected. I thought it would spend more time on the American Revolution, but it did not. On second look, I found that the book was well written and covered the period found in the title in a good way. The book broadened my scope of knowledge about this time period and I am very satisfied with my purchase.
⭐I have a big interest in this period of military history but haven’t been able to find much about it. This book was just the thing and was interesting the whole way through.
⭐Bought for husband, he loves it.
⭐Very informative. Fast read. I was able to read it ln just a few days. I learned a great deal about tactics
⭐I have now purchased this book twice. Both books have different covers than the one depicted here (the one with an American Revolutionary officer being shot). The books I have depict Rorke’s Drift on one cover and Washington crossing the Delaware on the other. But the insides are identical. They both cover colonial skirmishes, not proper European battles during this era (which is what I was looking for). The book advertised here claims to cover the Austro-Prussian War, the Franco-Prussian War, the Russo-Japanese War, etc. So far I have not located this book. If someone knows what the correct ISBN is for this one, please post it here. Thanks.
