User’s Reviews

Editorial Reviews: From the Publisher An introduction to the art and science of shaped charges. This unique book provides an overview of the basic aspects of shaped charges, stressing the fundamental principles that must be understood before designing the actual hardware. The last chapter presents figures and illustrations of shaped charges.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Direct contact of incompressible materials with high explosives represents the most extreme end of the spectrum of practical applications within the field of shock and impact physics. Understanding the physical behaviors of materials is this regime lends to a greater understanding of that entire spectrum. While the utility of shaped charges themselves are largely limited to poking holes in things, the utility of this text is to provide an understanding of a field of mechanics with applications in ballistics, armor, survivability, personal protection, crash modeling, and space flight. Interesting, well written, logically organized, and comprehensive.

⭐I first read this book shortly after publication. There’s no doubt that it’s a handy primer on the field, but it is also 30+ years old now. As you would expect, many interesting papers have since been published in just about every area covered by the book. However, this remains an interesting (and easy to digest) place to start. If you’re interested in shaped charge analysis, try googling “ls-dyna shaped charge” for some more insights and interesting videos on youtube on recent analytical work. This will give you a good idea of the learning curve required from covering just the fundamentals (this book) to analyzing a specific application (you will need graduate degree level studies). There is a huge wealth of information in the public domain that provides an alternative source of information. I therefore wouldn’t pay the currently advertised $500 price for this book (definitely not when I was a grad student!), but supply and demand is a thing, I guess.

⭐I am not going to go deep into this. But I am a Masters student doing research into improved shaped charge design. There is no better reference for this niche topic. Unfortunately this is out of print, but zukas also has a number of explosive and compression based reference material for broader treatment of this topic.

⭐very powerfull ! i had borowed the book from my friend, and iwould like to have one. I am living in Yougslavya can you help me to buy on please
