Description

Jack Nightingale was always happier dealing with criminal cases or even divorce than he was with matters of the supernatural. So when a client came with a simple request to uncover the meaning behind her father’s last words, he was happy enough to take the case. Little did he know that the investigation would lead him to one of the vilest demons to ever walk through the gates of Hell. Jack Nightingale appears in the full-length novels Nightfall, Midnight, Nightmare, Nightshade, Lastnight and San Francisco Night. He also appears in several short stories including Blood Bath, Cursed, Still Bleeding, Tracks and My Name Is Lydia. The Jack Nightingale time line is complex, this story is probably set between Midnight and Nightmare. Jack Nightingale has his own website at www.jacknightingale.com

⭐ I KNOW WHO DID IT is the most recent (published June 30, 2015) Jack Nightingale short story. One could read it as a one-off, but then one would be missing all the fun of the backstory regarding who Jack is, and how he got to be where he is now (in this short story); a London PI, ex-cop, who has (at the time that this story takes place) already had several close encounters of the first kind with black magic and demonology. If none of that makes any sense, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of NIGHTFALL, the first of 6 major novels and a handful of shorts featuring Jack and company. In I KNOW WHO DID IT, Jack is hired by the surviving sister of a young woman who was found dead of an apparent suicide 40 years earlier at a posh English boarding school. On his deathbed, the two girls’ comatose father suddenly sits up and screams “I know who did! it”, prompting the surviving sister to hire Jack to find out what happened in this extremely cold, cold case. Jack being Jack, and Leather being Leather, Jack takes on this seemingly impossible request (he is in between cases, and novels, NIGHTSHADE [#4] and LASTNGHT [#5], at this point) and of course, all hell breaks loose. Fans of the series will rejoice in seeing Jack back in London with Jenny, the MG and other old friends.Leather is clearly not done with Jack, and is as comfortable writing Nightingale short stories as he is with the full novels. I’m waiting for novel #7 in the series, but while you’re busy with Spider Shepherd Mr. Leather, perhaps you’ll throw us Jack fans a bone with a Jack Nightingale novella, set back in London with Jenny, Marlboros, bacon sandwiches, a cranky MG and Robbie Hoyle. I think there’s more to the Robbie story than we know at present.Highly recommended (both for fans and for tyros as well).JM Tepper

⭐ I am loving this series by Stephen Leather. I haven’t read his other series because I am not really into spy/assasin novels but now I amseriously re-thinking it! These books keep you on the edge of your seat. I’ve read every one to date and can’t wait for the next.

⭐ Fast paced read. Jack uses his private detective skills in an old murder mystery with weird facts and scary intrigue, a surprise, a ritual and he faces a new demon.Loved it. More please.

⭐ kept my attention

⭐ Pretty engrossing, I found this book to be a very good read.

⭐ Another journey into Satanism, ripping yarn

⭐ Awesome!

⭐ The story is ok but if I’d read it first I wouldn’t have bothered with the novels which would have been a great shame. The end felt hurried and made little sense. In my opinion its time to end the series but I’ll be buying the next installment nevertheless

⭐ Mr. Leather spins another good yarn, but it follows the long established theme of the series. I would like to see a new angle for future tales. I was pleased with the two latest novels situated in the states. I continue to recommend this series to all.

⭐ Another good edition to the Jack Nightingale mythos. Nothing particularly different from the other stories but just the usual good plot and characters.
