A Short Guide to Writing About Art is a comprehensive work that covers several angels of writing applicable to not only art, but a world of topics. Believe this is a classroom essential for a variety of liberal arts, writing, and presentation/speaker fields. Each and every page offers useful in-the-field practical applications… just pick a page, ANY page, for useful information. Considerations highlighted by the author, editors, and publication teams that have put this together through the decades are timeless, universal, and constructive. A breath of fresh air in a morass of contemporary cryptic electronic communication blips.Required for class. There were probably three chapters that were remarkably helpful, but the rest was pretty much a book on how to write an essay. This ‘short guide’ is 350 pages long!The book itself was okay and it did give me good ideas and help me write a decent paper. But there were a couple of important chapters in the book that were bound upside down. These would seem minor enough if it were a novel. But I used the book more as a reference skipping around as I wrote my paper. It was really annoying and made it where I didn’t even want to mess with using the book. I went with the paperback rental to save about $20. Not sure if the book would be worth the extra money to get the digital version as this book was recommended but not required for my class.This book is a decent resource, I would not have been able to write my art history paper without it, the style for art history was completely different than what I was used too, and this was helpful in a bind.Arrived quickly and in perfect condition, thanks!Bought this book for my art history class and it is VERY informative. There are sample essays in the book and it tells you what you should and shouldn’t write which was very helpful when I was writing my essays.
