Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with this purchase. A great collection of fairy tales with intelligent essays to accompany these tales. Just add to chart and buy. Period.

⭐It is very convenient to have all these great fairy tales in one volume but the value in rereading them is little in my opinion. The essays in the criticism section feel a little repetitive when they talk about the origins of fairy tales as spoken folk tales but that is bound to happen. Reading them I thought, okay this is the 5th critical essay on folk tales… yes, I know the oral origins of folktales but I have to read it again just worded differently.I’m sure that those essays have great value if you are in school and this is required reading but for somebody who wants to read this for fun simplicity of the fairy tales makes them have a low entertainment value, especially for rereading them. It is a nice book to have in your personal library though, where else are you gonna find this selection and each tale comes with an introduction to the type of folktale that the fairytales fall under (for example: Cinderella stories have an intro, Bluebeard stories have another intro… and so forth). So I guess 3/5 stars is fair for a review.

⭐Love this book. Great stories

⭐This is a good anthology to use for freshman/sophomore college students. I assign it as part of a themed composition course, but it would also work well for a literature survey type course on fairytales. There is a good variety, and stories are grouped by theme (tale or author, in a couple cases), so the organization is good as well as the content. I also like having the critical introductions to each group of fairytales. For my students, this really helps to serve as a foundation for their critical thinking and is a good platform to introduce the idea of using scholarly support in their writing. My students really enjoy using this text as well. I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about classic fairytales and different retellings of them.

⭐All the things I’ve never knows

⭐The collection of tales is extensive and original. I am quite pleased with the Book and know I will enjoy many pleasant hours of quality time in worlds far away and times gone by. These are stories that have been handed down from decades ago and have been mainstays in the world of Fictional Tales that have kept so many readers coming back year after year.

⭐Good read over all.

⭐Bought it for a class and it’s serving it’s purpose

⭐NEEDED FOR UNI

⭐A good collection of fairy Tales for critical reading. Good for parents to read before they let their children watch any nonsense Disney.
