Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐I bought this collection of short stories in the 80s when it first came out. I found it captivating and memorable. I was thrilled recently to see it is now on Kindle! I try to load my Kindle with short stories and other short reads for toting with me when my current novel is of the heavy, hardbound type. But I find I don’t like most short stories. My latest frustration caused me to reminisce about short stories I have enjoyed in the past, and I recalled my pleasure reading the early Ayn Rand. Time for a revisit! My recommendation is that you not skip Leonard Peikoff’s intro to each one. He analyzes each work based on the stage Rand was in in developing her philosophy, but more importantly in developing her command of the English language and in perfecting her writing abilities. I always read the intro to each story before and after each story to savor the revelations. I found them fascinating. A note of caution: beware of the first story, “The Husband I Bought”. I “awoke” from my absorption in it and found myself at the Y on a stationary bike sobbing noisily. Rather embarrassing.
⭐The book arrived quickly and was just as described. Fits well into my Ayn Rand collection
⭐I don’t know why Alissa Zinoyevna Rosenbaum didn’t publish this work of hers, but it’s published now. She excels as a fiction writer that is her specialty. She creates fascinating characters whom are heroes trying to accomplish their goals. Not only that but the heroes make sense. They are sensible people. This is art in fiction. These particular stores were adventurous, suspenseful, dramatic, intellectually appealing and mysterious. I had fun reading these stories. Rosenbaum’s non-published work also appeals to a broad audience so there is something in it for everyone.
⭐Read everything but this one.
⭐if you are a Rand fan….you will love her early works.
⭐Great stories. Amazing plots. Not philosophical.
⭐I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW MUCH I ENJOYED THESE FIFTEEN COMPACT DISCS THEY WERE VERY MUCH MORE THAN I HAD HOPED FOR
⭐Good, early stuff. She was just learning English, but still great!
