Description

“[This] updated translation showcases what is a central and often-overlooked text in Heidegger’s oeuvre” and essential to understanding his later work (Phenomenological Reviews). The History of Beyng belongs to a series of Martin Heidegger’s reflections from the 1930s that concern how to think about being not merely as a series of occurrences, but as essentially historical or fundamentally as an event. It builds directly on an earlier work in the series, Contributions to Philosophy (Of the Event), and provides a pathway to the later text, Mindfulness.Together, these texts are important for their meditations on the oblivion and abandonment of being, politics, and race, and for their incisive critique of power, force, and violence. Originally published in 1998, this English translation opens new avenues for understanding the trajectory of Heidegger’s thinking during this crucial time.

⭐Great work, but I do wish the Greek quotes had been translated instead of driving me through Kirk …

⭐Anyone familiar with Heidegger’s work of the mid to late 30’s who have already engaged with his ‘Contributions to Philosophy’ or ‘Mindfulness’ and would like an interesting and lucid illumination of ‘The Black Notebooks’ should surely find this an enlightening read as Heidegger explicitly works through the concept of “Power” in a light critical of Nietzsche and National Socialism as well as separate from his own previous depictions of the concept in Nietzsche v,III as well as ‘The Introduction to Metaphysics’. Core pathmarks in Heidegger’s thought during this time such as- machination, Jünger’s “total war” and of course beyng and da-sein also come to further investigation and critique.

⭐un écrit de fond dont la portée immense est à veniret en regard de quoi toute action politique se révèle indigente!
