⭐ UNDER HIS HAND by Anne Calhoun.STORY BRIEF:Tess was brought up in foster homes. She now barely supports herself as an industrial design artist. It’s hot outside, and she can’t afford to repair the air conditioner. She leaves the windows open for relief. Her boyfriend Drew is a Navy SEAL. He just came back from a mission and is angry to see her windows open. She lives in a rough neighborhood. It’s not safe. He had made her promise never to do that and threatened to spank her if she did.REVIEWER’S OPINION:This is good for an erotic short story. Most of it is one long sex scene with some interesting conversation interspersed. I liked the subject of Tess’ upbringing which left her with fear and abandonment issues. By spanking her Drew shows that she can trust him not to leave just because she did something to make him unhappy. Drew offers absolution and commitment. I don’t recall that subject being done much in the romance I’ve read, at least in the way the author did it here. So I liked that. It was more than just hot sex. If you’re ok with spanking, I’d say the sex was above average, maybe not the hottest but good.The characters are very well done. Drew’s emotions, intensities, and physical condition made me feel like I was right there with a real Navy SEAL. It was so much better than just “saying” he was a tough Navy SEAL. This made me think less of other authors who never showed SEALS this way. The author paints him well. She also did some interesting things with Tess’ feelings. I like this author. He only wants her safety in a rough neighborhood and he doesn’t think that is a hard rule to follow until he comes home from a mission to see the upstairs windows wide open. To make sure she understands this rule when he presented it to her, he told her the consequences of not doing it: a spanking.When the air conditioning goes out on her house, Tess Weston doesn’t have the money to fix it. She knowingly opens the upstairs windows. Unbeknownst to her, her boyfriend scaled to the windows and is lurking in the shadows watching her. She knows the consequences, but she just can’t believe he cares enough to spank her. But when she is abruptly thrown to the wall and ravished, she knows he means business.Under His Hand is a wonderful short story of a woman who doesn’t really think she has any value and a man who wants to make sure she understands he loves her. When she won’t take his money and goes against a rule he has stated, he has to become the alpha male and show her her value to him.The love scenes are wickedly hot with the alpha male coming out to show what is his needs to be protected. While I still don’t think every woman with problems needs to be fixed by a spanking, this may be one instance where she needed to know that leaving her windows open could very well mean the end of her life.A intriguing short story that will have you believing a man an love a woman in all the right ways.

⭐ Tess has been involved with a Navy Seal. They see one another when he is in town. He is commanding and dominant. When he comes home to find her in a unsafe situation he acts accordingly. He spanks her. There is hot sex.

⭐ That was too f-ing short for any more than FREE!!!! Unless this story is FREE its too short to be worth it!!!! Definitely not happy

⭐ A very quick and spicy short read inlucing a very sexy dominant Navy Seal.. very yummy! Loved every minute of it

⭐ According to the author this was a “Fun” little story she wanted to write. Well, it is fun, plus so much more. Drew, the hero had such heart. I can’t remember loving a hero as much as I liked him in a long time. The connection between Drew and Tess turns well-written love scenes into smoking-hot, emotionally charged ones. This is on my TBR-again pile.

⭐ For a girl with trust issues having a Navy SEAL boyfriend who can’t talk about his missions, leaves at the drop of a hat, stays gone for weeks at a time with no contact and steals back into your apartment in a unconventional way under the cover of the night is probably not the best choice when considering potential boyfriend material. Tess Weston finds out the hard way that it can be both terrifying and thrilling when said boyfriend does finally make an appearance. And I really liked Drew’s homecoming surprise!Under His Hand is all about how actions have consequences (good and bad) and that when a SEAL makes a promises – you can count on him to keep it! There’s just something so sexy about a big, strong, Alpha SEAL and Drew is no exception…and he’s definitely a man of his word…he makes you a promise then you can count on him to follow through.This book is a short, sexy and sweating hot (I was sweating right along side Drew and Tess – me cuz I was working out and them cuz the AC was busted – but we ALL got in a steamy workout) erotic short story. I read this book at the gym this morning and even stayed on the elliptical until it was done. Any book that can make me WANT to workout longer just so I can finish it gets an enthusiastic two thumbs up. It was 45 minutes well spent.

⭐ Under his HandI’ve not read any of Anne’s work before and her style of writing is quite different from the usual `lust’ filled short stories I’ve read but it was a nice change, the story was full of want and need and by the end of it you understood the love shared, it was no means a love story but it also wasn’t a sex filed story (although there was a lot of that too) i’d recommend reading Under his hand and also following Anne Calhoun as I will be doing and I look forward to reviewing more of her work.Story: 5Characters: 5Cover: N/A The story was part of a 6 story book by a group of authors so I’ve not seen a coverTJ X

⭐ For a short story this was packed with just enough zing that I was satisfied with the length and how it ended. Well written.

⭐ It could have been a nice love story… but for the steamy parts it gets the point across just fine.
