Description

Each year, more than 4 million babies are born in the United States-and the first year of a baby’s life is a joyous, challenging, and sometimes overwhelming time. Your Baby’s First Year For Dummies serves as a complete guide for baby’s first twelve months, from what to do when arriving home from the hospital to handling feeding, bathing, and sleeping routines to providing the right stimuli for optimal progress.

This comprehensive yet no-nonsense guide can help new or even seasoned moms and dads looking for tips and advice to help with every aspect of their baby’s development. During Baby’s first year, at times things will go well: Baby’s sleeping and eating well, she’s hitting milestones on time, and you’re balancing childcare with work or with housekeeping. Then again, there are times when things aren’t great. This jargon-free book takes a realistic look at what Baby’s first year might be like, month by month. You’ll find it helpful if you’re pregnant and wondering what Baby’s first year will be like; you have given birth and want to know what the months ahead hold; you have given birth and need advice from a book that doesn’t talk down to you or make you feel as though there’s something wrong with you (because there’s not) if you’re having a hard time making the adjustment to parenthood.

⭐ We’re expecting our first in a few months and I have no prior experience with babies. My wife laughed at me when I told her I was going to look for a Dummies book on the subject, but low and behold – it exists. This is not my first Dummies book and it holds up with the rest (seriously, if text books were written this way, I probably would have enjoyed school much more) The authors take a very approachable and laid back approach to covering what to do with a baby. They seem to be pretty non-biased, presenting multiple sides to issues or decisions (when there are multiple sides). In particular, the best part are the *lists*. There are checklists for everything: nursery, hospital bag, baby bag, travel… They make it very easy. Even my wife now agrees.

⭐ Product is as described.Only thing is it recommends a few items that are very dangerous for babies (crib bumpers is an example).Maybe it’s just “older” book. I wouldn’t recommend it .

⭐ The media could not be loaded. I mean. It’s a lot. A lot of information. Good information for first-timers like myself. But you forget a lot and have to re-read. But it’s a good resource. Like an encyclopedia. But I’ve found the best resources are friends, family & nurses have already “been there. done that”

⭐ The book is more than I expected. Very needed information for a new mommy to be. The book was a little more worn out than I imagined but for being a used book every page is in really good condition.

⭐ I purchased this as a gift for my husband (FTD) who was a little anxious about bringing home baby. The book has some pretty good information from postpartum to first bites and beyond. Reading the book gave him some confidence and answered a lot of questions, especially in the early stages. I would certainly recommend this book for all new parents.

⭐ This book is very informative. I only wish I had bought it before the baby was born because the first few chapters of the book deals with exactly that. Some of the chapters cover the babies activities based on how many months old he is. So you don’t need to read the entire book at once and can wait until your baby reaches a certain age (i.e. 2 months or 3 months and then you can read those chapters). Has a dedicated chapter for Dad.Most importantly, the book mentions what you can expect as your baby grows older. For example, it was very useful to know that the baby was going to be increasingly fussy and screaming as he grew older into his 2nd, 3rd months which helped us stay more patient and relaxed.

⭐ Only about 100 pages in, already spouting out facts my girlfriend hasn’t heard yet and she is an avid blog reader. Mucho brownie points and some interesting facts.

⭐ I wish I had this book when it had my kid 23 years ago. I got this for a shower gift and it is packed full of great advice

⭐ The “for Dummies” books are written in a great format. You can read them cover to cover or start at any given point without feeling lost. I totally disagree with “Sabrina’s mom”‘s comment. Although our baby hasn’t come yet I have 4 younger siblings and my mom used the sleep training methods promoted in this book on all of us and they work very well. It’s hard to listen to babies cry themselves to sleep but it really is the only way they will learn to get themselves to sleep and the only way you will ever get some sleep. Discipline is just one of those things that you have to do as a parent. Also, the milestones are great so you know when to expect your baby to start crawling so you can plan how to babyproof your house. This book has wonderful, practical advice that I think every parent should read!

⭐ I bought this book is a new father. I didn’t realize that it’s only really written for heterosexual women. Anyway seemed a little outdated in that aspect.
