⭐Discworld fans will love this for their kids, but anyone can appreciate its charm.

⭐This is a book I give every time there is a baby shower.

⭐I love Discworld. I was going to visit my brothers family. That includes my 7 year old nephew and 4 year old niece. Since they had never heard of Discworld, I saw my role as Visit-The-Infidel-With-Explanatory-Pamphlets. This book is not the best introduction for young children, but it is a great excuse to describe Discworld to them. My nephew fell in love with it. I spend hours describing the disc to him. He loves to read. By buying this book, I created an easy path to buying presents for him for years. My only regret is that there are not any books that transition age wise from this to the novels. The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents will be the next book I buy him, I just don’t know if it will be this year or next due to his age.

⭐I teach Children’s Literature on the college level, and I’ve recently become a Pratchett fan. I’m not sure if very small children would like this book, but I read it to myself, out loud, twice. Giggling madly.Yes, it’s a Discworld book, and it probably helps to have read those. But it’s really a parody of children’s picture books. Anyone who has had to read *Goodnight Moon* or *Are You My Mommy* over and over and over every single night would probably find this funny; anyone who has read a child’s picture book and thought “hey, YEAH, why are all these books about sheep? Little Ralph here has never, ever seen a sheep, and isn’t going to.”A word on the illustrations: I enjoyed these. Melvin Grant uses a somewhat realistic technique for the “real” characters–Sam Vimes, the beggars, the trolls, Cut-Me-Own-Throat Dibbler. It’s more realistic than Paul Kidby’s fantasy-style illustration, but it works in contrast to the “baby book” illustrations of *Where’s My Cow*, the book within the book, which uses simple outlines and a color palette reminiscent of *Pat the Bunny.*I’m going to bring this in to my Children’s Lit class next quarter.

⭐I didn’t buy this book for a long time, even though I’m a huge Pratchett fan, because I wondered how much a grown woman without kids could really get out of it. But I finally got it, and I enjoy it enormously! If you’ve read the night watch books you’ve already read 90% of the dialogue in “Where’s My Cow?” But presented alongside the beautiful illustrations, I felt like I was reading it for the first time. The illustrations are gorgeous and lovingly done, and clearly created by someone who loved and studied Pratchett’s writing. I absolutely loved seeing characters like the patrition, foul ole Ron and Gaspode the dog, whom I’ve only imagined before. And every single page has multiple Easter eggs to find for anyone who’s read the books. Awesome for adults and kids! And it’s Librarian “ook” approved. (Would you really settle for anything less?)

⭐I’m a huge Terry Pratchett fan and, having a grandson who just turned two, I figured this would be a great gift for him. Especially since his dad just happens to be in law enforcement. I didn’t know exactly WHAT the book would contain but it surpassed my expectations by light years! You don’t have to be a Pratchett fan or be in law enforcement to enjoy this book. It is a load of fun for the wee ones AND the adults.

⭐No library worth mentioning, for any child of any age, should be without this book.The characteristic sideways humor of Sir Terry Pratchett, with a particular sweetness, makes this a truly wonderful book to read, and fun to read aloud.

⭐I would have given this no stars if possible. PLEASE DO NOT BUY, this is not a book or anything original, it is an overly illustrated very short extract from THUD!, which is a brilliant book, buy that instead. I waited for this, excited thinking I was getting something different, instead it’s just someone trying to make money off of Terry’s genius. And why does Sam Vimes look exactly like Pete Postlethwaite while Young Sam looks like a freaky demon child crossed with a monkey. Don’t buy it for the illustrations, especially if you like Josh Kirby, who this is nothing like. It states on the back “This is a book about reading a book which turns into a different book”. It should state: “This is a very short extract from a good book to justify some bad drawings”.

⭐Whenever my daughter picks out a book that I can’t face reading again, I turn to “Where’s my cow?”. She nearly always agrees, and I always enjoy reading it. I love the self-referential aspect, and I always point out to her that the book pictured in the book, the book that the book is about, is this book, the one that we are reading. I hope that this will expand her mind and make her think, and even though it probably won’t, it does make her laugh. Anyway, I always enjoy reading the book, and that’s the most important thing, no?

⭐I bought this for a young friends child, so he is like a grandson to me. Every time i visit he comes running with this book, out of all the others, so i can read it to him. We love doing the noises together, and the drawings are so much fun, always something new to discover.

⭐Anyone who’s a fan of Diskworld, especially Sam Vimes, will love this book. It is a bedtime story filled with favourite characters that your bairns won’t get to know for years. Hardback, thick glossy pages with lovely illustrations, nicely layed out with large font. Plenty to discuss with the wee ‘ain on every page.

⭐I was a bit disappointed by this – I’d hoped it was the story book used in “Thud” by Terry Pratchett, but instead it’s just a section of Thud with odd illustrations. No use for reading to a child, and the child featured in the pictures looks like a weird little old man.
