Description

Jacob Tucker’s perspective was turned on its head when he left his ranch in 1867 to travel to 2013. The fancy metal wagons and flying carriages were mind-boggling, but what truly changed his life was meeting Allie Whitewater. She has the mouth of a cowpuncher, the body of an angel, the temper of the Devil himself, and he knows she’s the one. He’s never been more sure of anything in his life, and once she comes back with him to his time, life will be damn near perfect.

Allie Whitewater long ago embraced both the Native American heritage of her father and the white heritage of her mother, but when she decides to help her best friend Indiana return to her new home in 1867, lives will depend on how Allie deals with her ancestors. What will it take to prove to the white army that she is a force to be reckoned with and prove to ‘the red-skins’ that she is a Spirit Warrior? History won’t stand still for two souls separated by time.

Internationally acclaimed S.E. Smith presents a new action-packed story full of romance and adventure. Brimming with her signature humor, vivid scenes, and beloved characters, this book is sure to be another fan favorite!

From the Inside Flap Take a peek inside Spirit Warrior!Allie had finally given up on the guys. She chatted with Lynn for several minutes, used the ladies room, and chatted some more. She decided they must be in the ‘Library’, as she and Aleaha used to tease Taylor whenever he took forever. She went ahead and started the pre-flight walk around while she waited. Her head turned and an exasperated smile formed on her lips as she watched them finally emerge from the single story building. Both of them were walking toward her with animated grins. She rolled her eyes when she saw that Jacob’s hands were filled with quarters. “I think that one is mine,” Jonathan was saying as he plucked one of the quarters that threatened to spill out onto the runway.”Allie, there was this metal box on the wall with a place that said ‘Insert Coin’. It is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. Well, except for the silver wagon and this flying machine and the lights that come on without a flame and the water out of the wall,” Jacob exclaimed in excitement as he climbed awkwardly back into the plane. “Who would have thought a machine would give you money if you pull on its arm?””It doesn’t always,” Allie replied with a chuckle as she slid into her seat and buckled back up. “Guess you guys live pretty rustic lives back home?”

⭐ This will be a review for both Indiana Wild and Spirit Pass since I couldn’t write a review for the first story. I don’t know why it wouldn’t let me do so, but that just means more for this one. I definitely liked both books a lot. They were unconventional and definitely funny. I liked how both Jonathan and Jacob had to trick their intended partners to get them to marry them. Lots of hilarity ensued. I won’t ruin the plot lines for either story except to say that Ms. Smith could have dropped some portions of Spirit Warrior because they overlapped with half the story that had been told in Indiana Wild. I liked that Ms. Smith spruced up some parts of the rebelling and fleshed out some scenes from Allie’s or Jacob’s points of view, even using Sam Whitewater’s at times to give the story more depth, but I did think some of the extraneous scenes could have been dropped. Especially since I had read Indiana Wild and went straight into Spirit Pass without a break. Now I eagerly await the next book in this particular series called Maikoda’s Gift. Hopefully, there won’t be too much overlap between what happened before and what will happen in this one. There was a teaser at the end of Spirit Pass that whetted my appetite after all.

⭐ A great follow up to the first book in the series Indiana Wild. This is Allie Whitewater and Jacob Tucker’s journey to true love and oh my stars what a journey it was *happy sigh*.From start to finish I was drawn into the world S.E. Smith has created with her words.Allie is half Lakota and half white she is also sexy, sassy and one tough cookie but she hides her true self behind a wall she has carefully constructed around her heart. She has loved and lost and Allie is not willing to go thru that ever again no matter what.Jacob Tucker hot yummy cowboy knows from the first time he sets eyes on Allie Whitewater that she is the woman for him. Poor Jacob sure does have his work cut out for him.Action, suspense, laughter, tears, and love. Not to many love scenes but the few in the book are smoking hot. For me the journey to mending Allie’s heart and her finally allowing herself to love again was beautiful and heart warming. So looking forward to Maikoda’s Gift…please Ms. Susan don’t torture us too long *wink*

⭐ I liked this book, but I LOVE this author. I buy all of her books, that being said….I think the description of this book doesn’t fit the book. It may have confused some people. Loyal SE Smith fans won’t mind but new readers might.Spoilers……..This book is actually about a sad young woman whose first love suffered brain damage years ago and is slowly dying in a convalescent home. He’s still alive until the middle of the book. Very confusing for romance readers (especially since the guy was great and she still loved him). There really isn’t any action until the end of the book. It’s supposed to be about cowboys and a modern Native American woman (who isn’t afraid to kick butt) in the old west…..but we didn’t really get any of that until the story was already told. It’s not the story that needs to be changed, just the description.Trust me, I’ll still buy any of her books.

⭐ I was very excited to see that “Spirit Warrior”, S E Smith’s second book in the Spirit Pass series, was finally available. Maybe my expectations were too high because this book left me feeling just a little bit disappointed. Not enough to dislike the book, but enough that I couldn’t give it the 5 stars I have given S E Smith’s books in the past. Like other reviewers, I felt that there was too much rehashing of events covered in the series’s first book, “Indiana Wild”. Prior to reading “Spirit Warrior”, I reread “Indiana Wild”. That might have been a mistake on my part because with “Indiana Wild” so fresh in my mind, the repetitious nature of the first part of “Spirit Warrior” may have bothered me more than it would have had I not reread “Indiana Wild. So, although I read “Spirit Warrior” the same day it released, I chose to wait a couple of weeks before reviewing the book in order to consider my reactions to the complete book. The characters are compelling. Chris and Allie’s story is heartbreaking and I can certainly understand Allie’s reluctance to take a chance on Jacob Tucker (although, it’s hard to imagine any red-blooded female turning down that hot cowboy). Ms. Smith successfully portrayed the Indians with dignity and the rude townspeople as I imagine prejudiced people were in the West in the late 1800’s. The villains are cruel and despicable. The story is adventurous, suspenseful and the reader is treated to a satisfying outcome for Jacob and Allie with a tempting hint of things to come (maybe). All in all, I liked this story and will certainly read a third book in the series.

⭐ Time travel.I liked this story a little better than the first book in the series.Jacob went through Spirit Pass with his twin brother to rescue his sister in law, Indiana (Indy). When he meats Indy’s best friend, Allie, he knows that she belongs to him.Allie’s parents met through Spirit Pass. Allie is half Lakota. Will Allie choose to stay in Jacob’s time? She knows what will happen to her people and won’t be able to change things.I look forward to Maikoda’s Gift. Maikoda is a Lakota that decides that Aleah, Allie’s fraternal twin, belongs to him. Tensions were high between whites and native Americans and I’m very interested in seeing what S. E. Smith will do with the next book in this series.

⭐ Every book I have read by S E Smith has blown me out of the water. With that said I would like to say I have waited a while for this book, and really hoped that it had more meat for Jacob and Allie. The story was awesome don’t get me wrong but if you read the first book then in this second half it should have picked up from when they came threw the spirit pass. I feel a little let down with this one because of that, like i read half of their story. S E Smith is such a creative writer with a vast imagination to let this one fall short of higher expectations, and this is just my personal opinion. Please don’t become complacent like so many other authors about your gift and rush the story lines. I would recommend this book, a wonderful story for what it was.

⭐ Where are Maikoda’s Gift, and the other promised books continuing series? I’m going to be 80 on 8/4/20 and would like to read them before I go out of time.

⭐ I enjoyed both books in this series. This is the second time I have read them. The first story was my favorite. Mostly because of Indy. She really made the book come to life. This book had great characters, good story line, except for the beginning when a lot was repeated from the first book. This book I felt it was cut off to quickly at the end when it was starting to get good. Now where is Maikota book?

⭐ Unfortunately, not one of the better books in the series. This book was very slow to begin with, having retraced a fair amount from the last book which made it tedious and hard to get into. The book could have been so much better if it had started from when Allie was leaving to go through Spirit Pass. I think Ms Smith needs to focus more on characterisation and plot lines and less on the number of books churned out every year.

⭐ Loved this book! My only critique is the retelling of Indy’s story from Jacob’s point of view. I don’t have a problem with it but it was very detailed and IMO didn’t add to the storyline very much.Allie is a great heroine and I knew she would be happier in the past, rather than the future, with the exception of how whites viewed Indians. I thought the ending was a bit rushed and hopefully she will be able to help the Lakota tribe. Can’t wait for the next installment.
