Description

Things are falling apart in the Richardson household. Angry arguments between Celine and her husband, Keith, have become routine. Review The title of best friend is clearly and eloquently defined in this story. The strength, support, love and loyalty of true friendship is portrayed in such a way that one questions her own friendships to see if they meet this test. ⭐ Why is this book entitled, “Best Friends Forever?”I expected to read about a bonded relationship between friends that transcended time and space but instead I read a story of a simple friendship where a friend would do what any other friend would do. There was one act of extraordinary “generosity” at the end, but this did not necessarily exemplify a “best” friendship. What the title should have been was “Husband, Again?… Never!” not “Best Friends Forever”The concept of this book was promising and I had high hopes for the plot, however Keith’s level of blatant disrespect for his family repulsed me. I almost did not complete this book club reading assignment, but I am glad I did because Celine’s faith and trust in God was the saving grace of this novella. This reader could feel her emotions during praise and worship as well as her heartache during her confusion with Keith’s infidelity and episodes of stupidity.The book ended somewhat abruptly, with primarily validating that Keith was a pathological liar and a pitiful excuse for a man. I really would like to have seen him receive some type of repercussions (other than corporate) for his actions-maybe some “street justice” administered by Jackson, or at the very least a painful STD.I am looking forward to hearing the input of the other readers during our book club discussion in October. The hostess has asked members and guest to wear pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

⭐ I agree with some other reviewers about the title – it just didn’t fit. But I loved this story. It was short, but the main points stood out. There was a breakdown of communication between this married couple and Keith used this as an excuse to ‘do him.’ His entire demeanor spoke volumes but I agonized along with Celine about her decision, mainly considering the child. What an absolute snake Keith was with all his dishonesty. Smart move on Celine’s part. Put your trust in God, was what I got out of this; He came through once Celine surrendered. And He always places Angels around you, sometimes as best friends.

⭐ I don’t know how Kimberly can come up with these characters but I started and couldn’t stop reading. The betrayal, the friendship, the love, the confusion and the list goes on. All I could hear playing in my head was ” I put all in His hands, this and that, this, this and that” . Whew!!! If no good, lowdown, dirty monkey with a wig on was a person(Keith)

⭐ This book seemed like it was written for someone with a second grade reading level. The dialogue was painful to read. The author seemed to rely to heavily on the dialogue to tell the story, making the words coming out of characters mouths super awkward.There didn’t seem to be much of a plot, it was anticlimactic, and every story point was rushed through. The characters were underdeveloped, and none of them that likable. Don’t even get me started on Keith, his storyline was so rushed it didn’t make sense most of the times.The book is called “Best Friends Forever” but it’s unfortunate that Lauren, the best friend, has so little to her character. Honestly, I think “Best Friends Forever” should never have been the title, as their friendship is utterly boring.Toby tries to write this book with a deep complex story, which is clearly too much for her. I’m not sure what went through her head, but this book comes across as though she wasn’t sure how to write the book and just wanted to get it over with, so she threw some things together. The book is 176 pages and the font is huge. It took about two hours to read. If the material wasn’t so mature I would have thought this book belongs in the children’s section.Sorry, but this was one of the worst books I have ever read. I have no idea why it has such good ratings.

⭐ MY REVIEW FOR BEST FRIENDS FOREVERWay to go Kimberla Lawson Roby!!!! This is a wonderful story that deals with a series of trials-trials of the faith, trials of the heart and trials of the will. Sometimes we go through things and feel it’s the end. BUT GOD! This story shows what faith and an ordained friendship can do for you.We meet Celine, Lauren, Kassie and Keith. Each character brought out different emotions in me. I found myself screaming, “Noooo!; Wait!; Little girl if you don’t…”; and “man I’m about to catch a case if…” and so much more. But what I loved the most was how the author expertly demonstrated the true meaning of the title, BEST FRIENDS FOREVER, throughout the entire book. I took my time reading this book because I didn’t want it to end. But when it ended, I was truly satisfied. Great job! Five stars!!!!!

⭐ Mrs. Roby does it again with Best Friends Forever, an emotionally charged story about a woman who suddenly faces a health scare right as her marriage starts to crumble. This story…all I can say is if you’ve ever dealt with infidelity issues, then you might want to have a glass of wine before you start reading this. This gets personal and echoes what a lot of people, men and women, have gone though (even though told from a female perspective). The story snatches your feelings in chapter 1 and doesn’t let go until the end. I yelled at the characters and added some choice words and commentary never meant for this story. At times heart wrenching yet still hopeful, Celine’s story will definitely leave you emotionally spent but satisfied.

⭐ This story was sad from page 1! It really focused on not only infidelity, but the lack of communication that most often leads to infidelity. Throughout the story, Celine never seemed to know or believe what caused the problems between her and her husband. This little miscommunication was a big clue for me. I never felt Keith was being totally honest in his reasons for leaving or coming back, so I wasn’t surprised at the true revelation. What I did enjoy about the story was the complete and totally loving relationship between Celine and Lauren. That was the true love story!!!!!! Thank you Ms. Roby for sharing that with us.

⭐ This book was a breath of fresh air from Kimberla Lawson Roby. It was refreshing to read about new characters however I always smile when a book mentions Curtis Black!! This story is heart wrenching yet hits home for so many people. It really made me think about my own core group of friends to see if I have a Lauren in my life. I thought the book was great just like all her other books however I have to agree with another reviewer. It is a very quick read with a rather abrupt ending. Although the epilogue was a nice addition, the storyline still ended a bit too rushed for me. I am hoping Kimberla is going to bring these characters back in another novel that is a bit more in depth. I always look forward to her books regardless.

⭐ An awesome and well written book about love, marriage and family. Lauren was a true friend in every since of the word, and a great woman of God. I thought that the storyline was going to be different where they would get back together, but Celine tried. Jackson was a great brother. I really thought that God was going to save the marriage instead He saved Her!

⭐ Best Friends Forever – thank you again Kimberla Lawson Roby for another book about real issues!! This book has a very important message about Faith, Trust and Friendship. Who can we depend on during difficult times in our lives? This book also has a message about peace, understanding and wisdom. I am waiting to see what is in store for Celine & Keith, Lauren & Jackson and Kassie. This book will be discussed in October which is Breast Cancer Awareness month. I am hoping that our discussions about the real issues in this book will bring some light into someone’s life.
