⭐“Everything’s Eventual: 14 Dark Tales” by Stephen King is truly an amazing collection of short stories written by the master himself. This was a fantastic read that touches on many subjects and has a bit of everything for those of you that love reading great horror stories.Of course, when it comes to an anthology of short stories, you’ll find some great ones, decent ones, and some that probably aren’t to your liking. That’s all completely fine but when it comes to this one, I felt they all hit different kinds of horror well. There’s everything from ghosts, zombies, craziness, weirdness, gambling, dark fantasy, and everything else in between. If I had to pick my favorites, they would be…- Autopsy Room Four- The Man in the Black Suit- In the Deathroom- The Little Sisters of Eluria- Everything’s Eventual- The Road Virus Heads North- Lunch at the Gotham Café- 1408- Riding the BulletAs you can see, I genuinely enjoyed the majority of these short stories. I’ve yet to read anything of The Dark Tower series by King but “The Little Sisters of Eluria” got me hooked and well, I ended up purchasing the entire series to hopefully read one of these days. If I had to pick the best story out of this entire collection, that would easily be “Lunch at the Gotham Café” as it was absolutely INSANE! That one stood out the most for me and will be something I’ll never forget.Overall, I give “Everything’s Eventual: 14 Dark Tales” by Stephen King a 5/5 as it’s over 600 pages of pure horror awesomeness. I’d highly recommend this to anyone that loves King’s work or is interested in reading some of the short stories that helped make him the phenomenal author he is today!
⭐I’ve been reading Stephen King’s novels, compilations, shorts, comic books, etc., since I first read “The Shining.” He is, to me, one of the best authors of our time. This group of shorts didn’t fail to deliver.I’m only a few years younger than the author but I still scare like the little girl I was when my brother told my best friend and I about the Monkey’s Paw. My friend was supposed to be spending the night but instead, she ran home. (Across the street.) She wouldn’t come back that night, either.I had to wait til I wasn’t home alone before I could read Room 1408. And, even not alone, a few of these got to me. If I were embarrassed, I’d say so.I guess I still enjoy the ratcheting up of my heartbeat when his stories hit the mark. Thanks for another round of fun, SK. : )
⭐I was an avid Stephen King reader in high school, but I haven’t really liked some of his later stuff. It seems like he gets really involved and I lose interest. I’m not trying to be insulting, it’s just me, and obviously he’s doing just fine without my business. But, and that’s a big but, I loved this book!!! Apparently short stories from Mr King are perfect for me. I felt like I was reading a book he’d written in the seventies or eighties. Every story, except one, had me riveted to my seat. My kindle died and I just moved closer to the outlet and continued reading. 1408, the main reason I bought this book, was worth it. I’m reading, wondering when anything scary is going to happen, only to realize it’s already happening and I’m terrified. Trust me, especially if you loved Stephen King like I did (Salems Lot, Carrie) then this book is for you.
⭐This is a collection of stories that really, for most of them, end rather oddly, leaving one to think about the endings for days at a time. In this collection, I found a new favorite King short story: Riding the Bullet. Creepy as it is, this is probably the most humorous (in a sick way, of course) story of any King has written. Also loved Luckey Quarter, a story that makes perfect sense if one has “been there.”
⭐I just finished this collection of short stories and I was not, nor have I ever been for that matter, disappointed w/ Mr King’s stories whether they be of the short or longer variety. I find especially interesting how he explains before each story how it came to mind or what particular events led to his ideas for the stories. Mr. King over the years has tried to explain his craft to help others understand how and why he comes up with such horrific stories. He has tried to teach others how to write in their own way. I would love to be a student with him as the teacher in a creative writing class.
⭐Great stories. Typical Stephen King. Lots of character development and a great variety of tales. Highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed.
⭐He’s done it again, no dissapointment here! Every short story was new to me except the story from the Dark Tower series.
⭐2 flippers way up.Pretty much what you’ve come to expect from King. I love his character development and ability to accurately depict small-town life. This series is a great cross-section of all of the things King is capable of: love, lust, regret, pain, terror.Definitely worth the price. 🙂
⭐Recommended reading for those with open minds who love horror stories.Everything’s Eventual offers a mixed bag of short stories, fourteen tales that range from the horrifying to the mundane, each of which includes commentary from the author.I loved all of the stories in this collection. I thought my favourite was going to be 1408, but it wasn’t, it was The Road Virus Heads North.
⭐This book reignited my passion for reading. For a while I had dipped in and out of a few novels, managing perhaps 1 or 2 a year. I was bought this book as a Secret Santa present for Christmas and was curious as I’d never read a book of short stories, not least from Stephen King.I don’t think there’s a tale in here that didn’t blow me away. Every story is so different from the last, narrative perspectives change between tales, and it’s just an incredibly gripping collective, one that certainly inspires me as a writer to up my game and create something of at least half this standard.Simply cannot recommend this book enough. Thank you Mr King.
⭐Having never read any Stephen King before, I found this to be a fantastic introduction to his works. No two stories are the same and each one has a different flavour to it, so it doesn’t seem like you are reading the same story from different viewpoints. I enjoyed most stories- some were truly disturbing, while others were more lighthearted, if such a thing is possible for King. There were only two stories that didn’t capture my imagination, these being “The Little Sisters of Eluria” and “Luckey Quarter”, but I can,t fault the writing or the stories themselves- they were just stories that didn’t pique my interest the same as the other ones in this collection, but they were still good in their own right. In closing, if you are interested in reading Stephen King then I feel this is certainly a great introduction.
⭐Once again another great collection some high points and noticeable low point being the Dark Tower entry which dragged and was a bit pointless to be honest.
⭐As always an excellent read the short stories are brilliant and I usually like a full blown book but found these wee stories addictive I highly recommend
