Synopsis:
Section K Replication Alluthan Clone, or Krac as he is now called, has one focus in his life: protect the descendants of the Freedom Five who rule Earth’s council. Things become personal when insurgents target a special member of the Freedom Five, Gracie Jones-Jefe and her family. When Violet Jefe is kidnapped, Krac swears to do everything he can to bring the precocious little girl, who is the image of her mother, home safely and kill those who took her.
Captain ”Skeeter” Lulu Belle Mann lives a life of freedom drifting from spaceport to spaceport in her short-haul freighter looking for unusual treasures to add to her collection of mismatched prizes. On the Pyrus space station, she finds two treasures she has to have! One is the new navigation module she desperately needs, and the other is a curly haired little girl with big green eyes that melts her heart. Never one to be denied what she really wants, Skeeter buys the first and steals the second.
When sources lead Krac to the Lulu Belle, he finds more than he expects–a woman who fires his blood almost as much as she draws it. Krac’s hands and life are suddenly overflowing; he has to capture the woman who is driving him crazy, protect little Violet, and keep them alive long enough to deliver one home and the other to his bed.
But someone else has targeted Skeeter and the Lulu Belle, and they are just as deadly as Krac. Can he protect the feisty firebrand that has captured his heart, or will he lose the only thing he has ever cared about to another of his kind?

From the Inside Flap A peek inside Krac’s Firebrand.”No,” he whispered stumbling over Harden’s outstretched arm when he saw Skeeter’s still body lying outside her cabin door. “Please, no. Please, please, no.”He stumbled forward and fell to his knees next to Skeeter’s pale face. He didn’t know who he was begging for mercy. He just knew he would never survive the pain that was threatening to overwhelm him if she was dead. His fingers shook as he gently caressed her pale cheek before his hand moved down to the knife protruding from her chest.”Krac!” His head jerked up at the sound of his name. Bran and Cooraan stood poised to fight while several other Zion warriors checked the bodies of the other two males. Desperation surged through him at the look of compassion and regret on their faces. The hand laying on Skeeter’s chest moved ever so slightly. He could feel the rise and fall as she breathed. She was still alive. “Please. Help her,” he croaked out. “She is alive.”Bran cursed, stepping forward to kneel next to the female as he snapped out an order for a medical team. “Where is Violet Jefe?”
Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:
⭐ I enjoyed Krac’s story. The problem I had was all the new information that seemed to be crammed into the last few chapters. We kept getting the impression this “plot” by those after Gracie was bigger than anyone knew and by the end of the story new info was thrown at us making us wonder where in the world it could lead. I can usually handle that. What bothers me is when so much is given to a reader and then nothing comes of it. Instead, the author chooses to follow-up other story lines in other series they are writing or they create whole new series before completing the one they began with. This was published in 2014 but I can’t find Rorrack’s Revenge anywhere. It’s aggravating to have so much thrown at you to only have an author seem to stop writing and you have to wait and hope they finish the series so you know what happens next. I loved Gracie’s Touch as well as Krac’s Fireband; I’m just incredibly disappointed it seems to have stalled.
⭐ This series/book was excellent! The plot that is unravelling makes you try to guess who is the Evil Leader who want to kill & or kidnap people & try to get away with it. Krac is a cyborg & Lulu aka Skeeter is a human that was adopted by a “dragon” after her parents were killed. Lulu finds Violet after she was kidnapped & “pays” for her as well as the part that she needed while she was in a parts shop on a spaceport. Krac was going after the men who took Violet as she is his niece (not a blood relative kind but a friend of the family kind) & while following the bad guys who took Violet finds Lulu. Krac starts having feelings for Lulu that he’s never felt before but has seen those feelings between Violet’s parents, Kordon & Gracie; so he knows it is something more than he thought that he would ever have & falls in love with Lulu. But, through out their relationship there are bad guys looking for more ways to do them harm. Even though this book is a HEA book the plot of the series is not finished & I would like it to be as I want to know who the Evil Leader is. This book contains all of my favorite elements & hopefully if you’ve read other reviews from me you should know what they are by now.
⭐ I love S.E. Smith stories. Krac is a killing machine warrior built in a lab on Earth by rotten people. Skeeter is a young human woman who survived the murder of her parent by evil aliens when she was a child. Her rescuer, a fierce alien monster, took over the job of loving parent and protector. Skeeter is a lovely joyful artsy girl in love with life while Karic is a dark killing machine. But love changes everything. The storyline is awesome. Recommend that you read the first story (Gracie’s Touch) first to get the big picture. Really good read. Linda
⭐ This story was no where near as good as the first e-book in this series but it was very enjoyable to read. I got the impression the author just wanted to put out a 2nd story and therefore rushed through it. The main male character (Krac) fell to hard and way to fast for the main female character (Skeeter), when Krac is supposed to be half male half robot, of sorts and is only known as a brutal killer with no emotions. The best part of the story was Skeeters character though. Skeeter was an absolute breath of fresh air, a great change of pace from other authors main female characters, Skeeter was someone I myself would love to have as a friend! The story had a good amount of sex, the sex was nothing out of the ordinary though. For the length of the book and how fast the author pushed the characters through it I don’t think it should of cost as much as it did and for those reasons I only gave it 3 stars.
⭐ Krac wasn’t born, but created in a lab. A hybrid, part human part alien ( think of a gray skinned terminator) bred for combat. His mental armor is dented then completely smashed to smithereens by a curvy, zany and gutsy freighter pilot named Skeeter.Lulu Belle aka “Skeeter” doesn’t find trouble, it finds her. Trying to find a navigation part for her ship, she finds Gracies kidnapped daughter Violet. She grabs her and makes a run for it. Along the way she comes across this huge gray skinned giant named Krac. Skeeter doesn’t see Krac as a monster or as a science experiment, but as a man that she wants to be with. Krac is drawn to Skeeter like a moth to a flame. She brings out emotions he’s never felt before. Together they must get Violet back to her parents and find out why the want Violet’s mother.I like the way S E Smith writes. Her characters are well thought out and you get drawn into the story.
⭐ I give the story a 4. I really liked both Gracie’s Touch and Krac’s Firebrand and the characters and story lines both rate a 4 with me. That being said, I don’t like how book 2 ended so abruptly. Just boom, done… see more in Roarrk’s Revenge. The only problem is that evidently it is not out yet, nor can I find out when it will be published. If you search on Amazon for the title, it comes up, but takes you to different S E Smith books. I went to her personal website and there is no mention of it. That is the type of thing that totally ruins the enjoyment I just received and turns it into frustration.
⭐ This is listed as Book 2 in the Zion Warriors series, but one of the Zion Warriors is not the main character. Krac, a 1/2 Alluthan, 1/2 human being is.We met Krac in the Zion Warrior book 1, Gracie’s Touch. He was introduced at the latter 1/4th of the book. He was an assassin who was hired to kidnap Gracie, and turn her over to the evil earth chancellor. That was in book 1This is book 2 of the Zion Warrior series. We have learned that Krac is working with the Confederation to keep the descendants of the Freedom Five safe. They are being targeted, and no one knows why. Gracie is being targeted for kidnapping, yet again. They don’t get Gracie, but they do get her and Kordon’s daughter, Violet Jefe. Violet is absolutely hysterical as a character, portrayed in print as only a precocious, very loved, 3 year old could be. Uncle Krac’s interaction with Violet is really cute, and humorous. Krac is now on the trail of the kidnappers.Lulu Belle ( Skeeter) is the adopted daughter of Ti’Death, a very feared and vicious warlord. Except, of course, where Skeeter is concerned. He has let her do anything she wants, including being a freighter pilot. Of course, each of her co-pilots has been a bodyguard, hired by him. Skeeter is off on the space station, looking for parts for her ship, when she accidentally finds Violet, and takes her from her kidnappers. The story is well written, the interaction between Skeeter and Froget, are really funny. Skeeter is lovable, but a little naïve for her background. We see another side of Krac, in addition to seeing more of the big picture of the Alluthan invasion of Earth. This book, especially in the last 1/4 or so, does set up for a very interesting series, and, if you look closely, you will see the pairings of some of the characters for the next few books in this series. As I stated, the Zion Warriors are present, but almost as secondary supporting characters. Still, funny, cute, and with some very interesting characters.
⭐ S.E. Smith has my ongoing attention. This second in her continuing Warriors of Zion series finds test-tube genetic mix of Alluthan and human (allbreed) Krac (feared assassin) on a quest to find the kidnapped daughter of Gracie Jones (heroine of the first book, “Gracie’s Touch”). Krac has devoted his life to defending the Freedom Five’s heirs. While on his quest, Krac runs headlong into Skeeter, adopted daughter of one of the galaxies most powerful and feared traders. And the fun begins. Skeeter’s bubbly ADHD-like behavior totally befuddles the serious and lethal Krac. The dialogue and inner stream of consciousness of both characters delighted me. I plan on following this series and hope to enjoy more suspense, action and romance in the lives of Ms. Smith’s fantasy/sci-fi characters.
⭐ It’s a really good story, but part of an overarching narrative and this ends right in the middle of it. It’s not an HEA, but rather, a happily for now. Please note: I wrote this review in Jan 2020 and it’s been 6 years since this book was written. There is still NO follow up story. Buyer beware.
⭐ SE Smith created another enjoyable story. The heroine is very individualistic and strong, the hero is very dark alpha and needs the light she brings to his world. Only downside was that while their individual story is complete to imply a HEA the larger series is left with a lot of questions. One thing I really liked about this book was that while it is labeled as the second in the series it did not feel like I needed to go back and read the first one in order to understand the characters or the world; while there was definitely secondary characters overlapping, with back stories not explained here, most of the time I didn’t feel like I was missing any information pertinent to the hero & heroine’s story being told in this book. There were obviously some larger series storyline that may have had more weight if I want to read the first book in the series; but overall I liked that I could read it without having to read the first book and it was an enjoyable romance.I really liked the humor and quirkiness of the heroine. She felt very real, relatable and imperfect which made her story so much more enjoyable and unique. I liked that the heroine wasn’t model beautiful but rather was an everyday woman whose personality shined through and that’s what made her beautiful and desirable; the heroine also saw the beauty, instead of what others seemed find scary, in the hero and it really did a great job at showing that loving someone is about the personality, attitude, and relationship and not just about the outward appearance.I am excited to read more in this series when it is released. SE Smith does a great job as an indie author.
