Description
Mathematics is the science in which we think carefully about numbers and space. The Golden Library of Knowledge is a series of books especially design for today’s generation of young people eager for interesting information. The carefully researched, scholarly texts are nevertheless simple and easy to read. Beautiful color pictures throughout make each book a delight. The series has been prepared under the supervision of Dr. Herbert S. Zim, authority on science education, and editor of the popular Golden Nature Guides.
User’s Reviews
Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:
⭐I had been wanting this book for years. The reason being is that when I was little when my brother (older than I ) had this book. The art and design and layout is from the late 1950’s or so…and it is so cool to look at while learning about math concepts. And I really dig it(give me a shovel, honey !) that it features the Egyptians doing their thing with math and geometry. Simplified –and alas very cool.I was always looking at big bro’s books (and scribbling in them too ! bad sister !!)
⭐I doubt you will see the foundations of arithmetic, geometry and algebra expressed more clearly, and more comprehensibly anywhere else. DIsney at it’s most aspirational best
⭐This is a must for parents to buy for their children as a tutor for their children studying math. Makes it all so simple. Wished I had known about this book as a child. This late author has published similar books on other subjects as well. His name should be available as a reference in everyone’s library!
⭐I owned this book before I started school, and yes, I read it. Again and again. Thus when I took my entry or placement exams, I already knew about the Golden Rectangle and the Fibonacci sequence. Everybody thought I was a genius, but I was just well read. I wish I could give this book to a 7-year-old I know, but I’d have to get a copy for myself first to see if I really did trace, cut out my tracings, and assemble those rectangular solids, or just dreamed I did. I wish my Inner Marie Kondo hadn’t passed that book on just because I’d “grown up.” Sometimes kids’ books are particularly effective quickie reviews of everything but your major fields of study, usually better than Wikipedia, and I’ll miss this book even more if The Grid fries and we have to read by candlelight instead of online.
