Description
Overtime has never felt so good…
Marin Rush loves studying sex. Doing it? That’s another story. In the research lab, Marin’s lack of practical knowledge didn’t matter, but now that she’s landed a job at The Grove, a high-end, experimental sex therapy institute, she can’t ignore the fact that the person most in need of sexual healing may be her.
Dr. Donovan West, her new hotshot colleague, couldn’t agree more. Donovan knows that Marin’s clients are going to eat her alive unless she gets some hands-on experience. And if she fails at the job, he can say goodbye to a promotion, so he assigns her a list of R-rated tasks to prepare her for the wild clientele of The Grove’s X-wing.
But some of those tasks are built for two, and when he finds Marin searching for a candidate to help her check off her list, Donovan decides there’s only one man for the job–him. As long as they keep their erotic, off-the-clock activities strictly confidential and without strings, no one will get fired–or worse, get attached…

⭐ Not so long ago, I use to enjoy creating reviews for the books I read. Somewhere along the way I stopped writing and just concentrated on the reading. With this new series, I told myself that I would attempt to get back in the habit of writing my thoughts about my latest conquest. So let’s dive into this gem shall we? Okay, so to start I would like to point out that while I did enjoy this book, I felt that it lacked the punch Loren’s “Loving on the Edge” series always had in abundance. The start was a little slow but I understand why it was necessary because it was crucial to the development to the characters. There were moments where my eyebrow was raised because of the details that were used even though I have grown accustomed to Roni and the vast world of erotica so it’s becoming harder and harder to truly surprise me. While I don’t want to give anything away, but there were instances where Donovan tapped into some of his dominant tendencies which was so much fun. It seemed like Roni was paying tribute to her previous series which I appreciated immensely. Both of the characters had a tough history but chose to use their pain to help others. That made me really happy when they were able to receive closure from past demons and move toward a new chapter in their lives. So, while this book may not have been as exciting as the “Loving on the Edge” series, it was still a book I enjoyed reading. If you are a fan of the author, I would encourage you to give this one a shot.
⭐ Possible spoilers!! This is my first book by Roni Loren and I have already put it in the TOP TEN reads of my lifetime. (Well, maybe just of my Erotica lifetime! LOL.) I totally floved the two main characters Marin and Donovan – from the very start! Some readers might want to be harder on Donovan, but I found him extremely endearing. His continual denial of being relationship worthy might make some say he was using women. But I would argue that he had very good reasons for looking at himself that way. And, he did not seem to be a womanizer or playboy. He discontinued his sexual relationship with mean and downright nasty Elle, before he began seeing Marin. Anyway, this book was superbly written – few, if any grammatical errors!! (MY BIGGEST pet peeve!!). The characters were well developed and the story’s timeline was believable. I honestly don’t ask authors for much, I admit but this story was beyond exceptional. It kept my interest throughout and while I could have read more of Mari & Donovan the ending/epilogue wrapped things up very well. Thank you, Ms. Ronin, for penning such a beautiful love story and for inviting me to tag along for the ride of Mari and Donovan’s life!!
⭐ This was so fantastic! There was this perfect balance of passion and emotion and seriously epic hotness. I was expecting hotness, but it was just so much more! It’s my first book by Roni Loren and I’m blown away! You have to read it!!!It was amazing. Seriously AMAZING. This book consumed me. I was fascinated and completely pulled in. Marin and Donovan were these great characters with an undeniable connection. They were flawed but full of passion. How they meet is pretty great, super hot. But there this underlying bit of emotion happening as the details and back stories start to unfold. I love them reconnecting. The sexual tension and angst, want and need all building had me on the edge of my seat. There is this pull between the two and it just builds and grows and it becomes all consuming… it pretty much skyrockets.About the hotness… the schmexy was off the charts! It was sensual and dirty and kinky and fun. But somehow, mixed in was this huge element of trust and emotion that made it all so much more real and meaningful. It’s hard to explain, you have to read it for yourself and experience it.I really liked all the other characters that were in the mix, it made for a really detailed story with a lot of depth. Loved Nate and how Marin was so there for him. Loved Lane. I need more Lane for sure. I need more Roni Loren in general. I am officially a fan.The writing was flawless to me. An excellent read that was just so well thought out. Timing, pace, build, all of it was just fantastic. There were bits of drama mixed in but it all balances nicely with the hot and emotion. Major kudos to the author for addressing a series issue in today’s society. In the midst of all the hotness, there is a lot of healing and hope. It was really just this beautiful thing. How I can go from squirming to crying to laughing and having my heart feel full in a short amount of time I’ll never know but it happened. I know I’m getting gushy but it was pretty amazing. It’s a story full of passion, love, and hope. Fantastic read!
⭐ Oh, for half stars! This book deserves 4.5, but I couldn’t quite go to 5.For years, I’ve been reading Loren’s Loving on the Edge series and hoping she would venture beyond the bounds (or bonds, snicker) of BDSM erotic romance. Her characters have always been fully realized and (other than the occasional bad guy) sympathetic, their relationships full of tangible chemistry. I was delighted to learn that Loren was starting a new series.Off the Clock has the strengths of Loren’s earlier books (including very steamy sex scenes). While the humor doesn’t match that of Pike’s and Gloria’s exchanges in Call on Me, it’s there and enjoyable. I sometimes found the romance genre conventions a bit obtrusive, but not very. Some BDSM details have found its way into this series, though in a more or less peripheral way. I don’t know whether this indicates Loren’s, or her publisher’s, insecurity about her audience’s willingness to embrace her books for their plots, characters, and heart, without leftover BDSM trappings.
⭐ I love Roni Loren and her Loving on the Edge series. She has mastered that series and I am always pleasantly surprised with her latest book in the series. I was curious to see how she wrote this new book. Impressed is the least I can say. Another 5 stars for me!So in this book we meet Marin Rush. When the story begins, Marin is 18 and working in the sleep lab recording results. She meets Donovan West. He is a Teaching Assistant working on a new theory testing the effect of scripted erotic talk on women with arousal disorders. She overhears him recording his readings one night. Can you imagine overhearing a hot, sexy voice saying nasty erotic things that made your body respond with electric sensations throughout? Well she got to know Donovan a little better and then her life fell apart. Marin did the only thing she knew how to do, survive and put living first, pleasure last.Donovan has his own baggage and never really deals with the past so it continues to haunt him. He can never run from it. He eventually learns that. No matter how much sex he has, how much he parties or who is on his arm, he can’t hide from the dark dreadful truth of his past. Then many years later, Marin and Donovan cross paths again but this time things are different. Without giving away any spoilers, this is where the book gets really good. The two must not only discover who they are, individually, finding their own way involves navigating with other people effected by their choices, namely Marin’s brother Nathan. Marin works hard to make sure Nathan has what he needs and deserves while trying to make herself happy. Marin and Donovan realize what they need to do to survive, alone and with another person in their life.Roni writes the characters as complicated beings that seem to have so many layers of problems but they are so simple and lovable, believable and human. Her story line is unique and fresh, a pleasure to read. The sex is just what it needs to be, beautiful and slow at times and hard, sweaty and passionate at others. Perfect mix. I fell in love with Marin and Nathan right away, Donovan, I was a little reserved about and rightly so. But by the end I did love him just as much as the others. The characters were good people, honest, truthful and respected by their piers in the book. Made me love them more. This book made me think about the characters outside of the book. I wondered, worried, thought about them and was curious to see what Roni had in store for them in the next chapter. They lived with me while I read it. That to me is a great book. When the characters take space in my brain and make me think about them, that tells me it’s a good book!
⭐ This book was a surprise for me. I went into it expecting straight up erotica and I was pleasantly surprised to find it was so much more. Having therapists as main characters made sure there wasn’t any stupidity. They handled their very real problems like adults. I’m excited to read Elle and Lane’s story. I’m very curious to see how they can redeem her…
⭐ A fun premise …. psychologists who council people with sex problems. What’s really terrific about this novel is that Loren takes the time to develop her characters and a relationship between them that feels real. No instalove. No hello-let’s-screw. Lots of heat and sex, as we have come to expect, but also great story, plot, dialogue, and characters. Can hardly wait to read the next one….so I won’t!
⭐ First book I’ve read of this author but thoroughly enjoyed every page. I did not speed read because you can usually predict what the authors going to plot or say next(I read a lot), not with her writing. Good story (warm and real) hotness (yep the sex scenes with taste) definitely reading more of her books.
⭐ But, oh Donovan. How I love thee. Broken, beautiful, and a sexual expert. And, blue eyes. What’s not to adore??This is the first title by Roni that doesn’t delve heavily into the BDSM style – she totally nailed it. The sexual tension will have you holding your breath, wanting to moan along with Marin & Donovan when…yeah. That.A must read for anyone who love some spicy stories and believable characters you can’t help but root for.Well done!
⭐ I think I’ve read everything Ronin Loren has published, and this is my favorite. The main characters are immensely likable. Their dialogue is fresh and funny. They are real people and act like adults. The heroine is smart and capable and funny. The drama they have to overcome is realistic and not overdone. The author avoids the usual excessive internal monologues and shows most of the development of the relationship through action and dialogue. The chemistry is hot and the sex scenes are very effective, if you know what I mean….
