Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Look, Kings’ early to mid work is amazing. Nobody, and I mean nobody, could convey horror and evil from the pages of a book directly into the souls of readers. This is exactly why I read his older works such as Skeleton Crew over and over again. The stories are original, often shocking and written with an expertise that makes them so damned entertaining. Somewhere along the way King lost it (or as some have suggested passed the torch to someone else) and became an example of why some artists should quit while they’re still ahead. Does he have any idea how bad his more recent writing is? Do his younger new readers? I don’t know. Still I am ever thankful to rediscover books like Skeleton Crew, Night Shift, Different Seasons and his other masterpieces like The Stand, etc. King has proven that his brilliance was not limited to the horror genre with Delores Claiborne and The Shawshank Redemption which I believe was published as a novella. What is most irking is that not only has he lost such an amazing talent but has lost it to such an extent that one has to question if this is even the same person who brought us all those fantastic stories from his earlier writing days. Some say it was his becoming sober and getting clean from drugs that caused such a plummet in his creativity. Who knows? Still for his own sake I wish King would just stop and maybe take up something else like calligraphy or coin collecting. Too harsh? I don’t think so. His long time faithful readers deserve better.

⭐This is my first Stephen King book, which I read in 1987 and was the reason I became a SK fan. I was in Miami, doing postgraduate studies in the University of Miami. I did not have TV in my apartment, so books were my only entertainment. This book caused me an addiction that has persisted up to this day

⭐Your humble reviewer is devoted fan of Stephen King (1947-) the most famous novelist in America. King is also noted for his ability to spin a good yarn in the short story genre. Skeleton Crew (strangely there is no story in this collection that is called Skeleton Crew!) contains over twenty stories. All of them are good but the ones listed below are my favorite. The Mist-The longest story in the book. A video retelling of the tale is now showing on the Spike network. One Maine morning a mist invades a beautiful lakeside area. The first person narrator’s wife urges him to go to the grocery to stock up but on his arrival he discovers that dinosaurs have invaded the market! This tale reminds me of Alfred Hitchcock’s film The Birds . It has an apocalyptic theme and is quite scary.Mrs Todd’s Shortcut tells the enchanting story of a lovely woman who resembles the ancient goddess Diana on her auto jaunts. A romantic story with great descriptions of a New England October. The Man Who Who Would Not Shake Hands-Tragedy following a car wreck in distant India. Every time the chief protagonist of this tale shakes hands with someone they die!Beachworld-A science fiction yarn about a spaceship trapped on a planet that is nothing but sand dunes!Nona-A bloody tale told by a serial killer who is insaneSurvivor Tale-A grisly story of an unethical medical doctor stranded on a forbidding island after his boat sinks. Not for the queasy among us!The Jaunt-A futuristic tale of mind travel from Earth to Mars. The Raft-Four college students decide to go swimming from a raft in a lonely Maine lake before being confronting by a horrible creature that eats them! The Reaper’s Image-An early short story by King in which the image of the grim reaper appears on an expensive old mirror. Light and entertaining reading.

⭐I love this book. I have read the stories so many times and I still love them. This is the 3rd copy of “Skeleton Crew” I have bought. I just wore the other copies out. My favorite story is, “Mrs. Todd’s Shortcut”. All of the other stories are great, also. This is my all time favorite SK book, next to “The Stand”. Get this book, you’ll read it over and over again, and not get tired of it.

⭐This is a great collection of short stories. Classic King. Frightening and gruesome. Make sure you sleep with the light on.

⭐I am trying to find Stephen King books in hardcover to add to my collection

⭐I’ve just started reading this book. I am along time fan of Stephen King.

⭐Great book. Fast shipping

⭐This collection of short stories was a reread, and there are a couple of tales that realy stood out from the rest, these include The Mist, Surviver type, the Raft and the Reach, these stories where outstanding and well worth the price alone, these are all typical King stories and come highly recommended.

⭐Unusually for genre authors, King has managed to master the short story as well as novel-length fiction. “Skeleton Crew” isn’t one of those cash-in collections where the publisher throws together some old crap the author spun out twenty years ago, usually amounting to 300 pages of mediocre stories. Although some of the tales here are as old as King’s first novels, the collection is a vast one with well over twenty stories, forming a heavy tome well worth the couple of quid you can get it for now.It includes some great stories that have earned their fame elsewhere, such as “The Raft”, “The Monkey” and “The Mist”, the last of which is possibly the best example of rising terror I’ve ever read, and recently made into a film (which I haven’t yet seen – it’s probably rubbish anyway). As in most collections of this size there are a few less inspiring stories, but most are short and even if they don’t give you the chills you were after, you’ll never feel like you wasted your time reading them. King’s narrative style and dialogue are as good as ever–A great collection, dirt cheap now online so pick it up!

⭐The Mist is a great story and one I remember reading ages ago. Glad I bought a new copy. Stephen King is a brilliant mainstream shocker writer. He manages to describe horror in simple and often brutal ways. Some great stories in here.

⭐If you are a fan of Stephen King, you will enjoy this great collection of short stories. If you are not yet a fan, this would be a good introduction to his writing without committing to a full-length novel.

⭐Amazing collection of short stories from the master if the human psyche. The ballad of the flexible bullet was a stand out for me as it pulls you in, burrows into your mind and makes you feel like your going insane along with the characters lol
