But to the Martin family, their household robot NDR-113 is more than a trusted friend, a confidant, a member of the family. For through some unknown manufacturing glitch, Andrew has been blessed with a capacity for love and a drive toward self-awareness and devlopment that are almost…human. But almost is not enough. Andrew’s dream is to become fully human. Facing human prejudice, the laws of robotics, and his own mechanical limitations, Andrew will use science and law in his quest for the impossible, arriving at last at a terrifying choice: to make his dream a reality, he must pay the ultimate price.

Reviews from Amazon users which were colected at the time this book was published on the website:

⭐Book is in excellent condition, as described by Seller. Arrived very well packaged and earlier than I anticipated. I have the DVD “Bicentennial Man,” which is based on The Positronic Man. The book goes into more detail, especially from the android Andrew’s point of view, since it is his story. I’m enjoying the parallels to the movie, but also the differences which enable the reader to fully understand Andrew and his journey. Both the movie and the book have their own charms, but the book enables the reader to better understand Andrew’s journey and choices more so than the film as he walks the path to his ultimate destiny. Beautifully written — the story draws you in from the first page and captivates the reader until the last page is turned.

⭐Product arrived on time as described

⭐Great older copy of a classic Asimov book. Source material for Bicentennial Man (Robin Williams). Snagged this copy at a great price. Seller had it delivered to my house much sooner than expected which is always nice. Accurate condition and description. Thank you for the attention to detail!

⭐Great book! A classic in its own!

⭐I have never been as touched by a story of humanity as I was by this story of a robot. What a beautiful novel about what it means to be human.

⭐I purchased this book for my husband who was elated it arrived 2 weeks ahead of the projected delivery date. Because this book was shipping from the UK I figured it would arrive much later, if at all. I feel guilty for harboring such doubt. The fact that they had this book was exceptional and it was in better condition than the “good condition” stated. Should I need to purchase something from this seller again I will not hesitate. Now for the book – my husband finished reading the FOUNDATION series so this book has become a wonderful continuationto that series theme.

⭐I usual find myself bored of most fiction as the premises are poorly constructed or not based in reality (or in this case a realistic future). This book has been a non stop page turner. Absolutely cannot recommend it enough.

⭐Very touching and informative storyline

⭐‘The Positronic Man’, yet another of the many Science-Fiction books by Isaac Asimov and Robert Silverberg, probably has become one of my favourite books in this particular genre. Focusing throughout its entire plot on a robot who gradually takes steps towards becoming human, the characters and world are handled beautifully. At risk of starting this review the wrong way around, the narrative and practically all elements of this novel are fantastic. The story starts when NDR-113 at the Martin house, being quickly named Andrew by the youngest daughter. He starts doing ‘normal’ household work for the Martins, accidentally discovering a talent for woodworking described by others as “pure art”. He starts earning money, gradually exploring what one might call ‘creativity’ as he does so, and soon he embarks on a quest of sorts to attempt to not only be human but also be granted the same rights. He starts wearing clothes, gets into legal judgments concerning his classification and rights as a robot, learns languages, eventually starts replacing his positronic parts with human organs… Andrew devotes his whole existence on these efforts, and it is simply fascinating to see the plot develop around this. It is a wonderful story, despite how simple it may seem like. The narrative is beautiful, as are the characters and their development. The book manages to keep your attention at all times, even better, it increases it. Just when you think everything is perfect, you get to see into Andrew’s mind and see how he feels about how he is. The portrait ‘The Positronic Man’ shows of what the psyche of a Robot in this type of position is fascinating, and seems far more realistic than many of the other books in this particular genre. Every event seems real, as if it was truly going on.‘The Positronic Man’ has definitely become one of my favourite books in this genre. Every time I see a movie or read another novel focusing on a similar plot to this one I can’t help but compare it to it. Everything in it seems to fit and meld in the best way possible, and until it is finished it’s practically impossible to put down. ‘The Positronic Man’ is awesometacular, and deserves the highest rating possible with a great recommendation to read and buy.

⭐Classic Asimov.Still a good (re-)read.

⭐I enjoyed these collaboration books very much. Of the three, I prefer ‘Child of time’, but this is still a great robot novel.

⭐Great book. Was delivered in good condition.

⭐wurde als “sehr gut” beschrieben und wird dem auchvollkommen gerecht bei büchern die etwas älter sindbin ich immer auf leichte beschädigungen gefasst aberdieses buch ist tatsächlich so gut wie neu. Genial!
