Description

Cliff Hardy may be semi-retired but he’s as resolute as ever in fighting for justice and tracking down wrongdoers.

Hardy has never been much of a family man, so when he meets his second cousin Patrick Malloy it’s like being hit with a left hook to the solar plexus – Malloy is his double. Cliff and his cousin become friends and travel to attend a gathering of the Irish Travellers – the gypsy-like folk from whom they are descended. On their return, a shotgun blast shatters their camaraderie. But who was the bullet aimed at, Malloy or Hardy? And why is Malloy’s ex-wife, Sheila, now making her presence known to Hardy?

Hardy has his enemies and Malloy’s to consider as he searches for a killer. Clues point in many directions – to Sheila’s motives, to Malloy’s suspect business dealings, to old scores being settled. The search takes Hardy north to a paramilitary training camp and to a meeting of Traveller descendants in Kangaroo Valley; everyone seems to have an interest and the playing style is ruthless.

Hardy is de-licensed and out of work… but this investigation is personal.

User’s Reviews

Review “This book will remind you just how good Peter Corris is, what a legend his private-detective character Cliff Hardy is and why so many people love Sydney despite the fact that she is a seedy, grotty old tart of a city and always has been.” –Sydney Morning Herald on Appeal Denied –This text refers to an alternate kindle_edition edition.

Reviews from Amazon users, collected at the time the book is getting published on UniedVRG. It can be related to shiping or paper quality instead of the book content:

⭐ Corris generates characters that are so quintessentially Australian. They are gritty, real and flawed. The context of familiar spots around Sydney makes it great reading. He’s simply my favourite writer ever. Another great read.

⭐ I’m finished with the series available on kindle. All the books have been very entertaining and are deftly written. Wish there were more.

⭐ Usual peter corris

⭐ A good aussie crime read, the detail was very good. The only problem with th.is story was the ending it came up quickly

⭐ Peter Corris keeps your interest in the doings of Cliff Hardy and his investigations. I particularly like them because I know the localities he operates in and can picture the scenes which he keeps pretty real. The acting world was different but did meet my expectations for action and romance.
