Description

The Taskforce has stopped countless terrorist threats across the globe, operating outside of US law to prevent the death of innocents. But now, along the fault lines of the old Iron Curtain, the danger is far greater than a single attack. With Russia expanding its influence from Syria to the Baltic States, the Taskforce is placed on stand-down because of the actions of one rogue operator.

Meanwhile, Pike Logan and Jennifer Cahill travel to Poland, hired to verify artifacts hidden for decades in a fabled Nazi gold train, only to find themselves caught amid growing tensions between East and West. A Russian incursion into Belarus under the facade of self-defense is trumped by a horrific attack against the United States, driving NATO to mobilize even as it tries to determine who is behind the strike.

On the brink of war, Pike and Jennifer discover that there is a separate agenda in play, one determined to force a showdown between NATO and Russia. With time running out, and America demanding vengeance, Pike and Jennifer race to unravel the mystery before a point of no return is reached. Unbeknownst to them, there is another attack on the way.

One that will guarantee World War III.

Review Praise for Ghosts of War“Brad Taylor continues to solidify his claim as the best pure action thriller writer out there today….Ghosts of War combines the anticipatory genius of Tom Clancy’s geopolitical tomes with the high-stakes plotting mastered by the likes of Brad Thor and Vince Flynn. ⭐ Book Review – I am a huge fan of Brad Taylor’s Pike Logan series which has seen many twists and turns and the maturing of the characters in the Taskforce. The previous books in the series have touched on the impact the personalities can have on a small high stressed and intense organization and of course the politics at the time. In this installment, “Ghost of War,”we are given even more depth on some of the supporting characters (especially Veep, a Special Forces operator) and it is very well done. Not the usual delivery of the information or the usual reactions in the storyline, but again, very well written by Taylor. At one level the reaction to revelations might be considered somewhat juvenile but on another level it is very sophisticated. One can read these novels as simply action thrillers or feel the depth of the characters, their struggles and the complexity of their missions. Ghost of War is heavy on character development (which I love) and a bit lighter than some of the other novels in the series on action. Still a great book, great series and one of my favorite art covers in the series.

⭐ I just discovered Brad Taylor and his Pike Logan books a few months ago and have purchased every single one available. His experience in the formidable world of Delta Force is a gift he uses brilliantly in the novels he writes. I’m amazed at the amount of travel that he does so that he can make his books authentic. He doesn’t miss the tiniest of details, and because of that, his books keep you so engrossed in the plot that you feel like you can hear the cacophony of noises and languages in foreign countries, smell the different spices prevalently used by different cultures, feel the heat, humidity and pestilent bugs that the characters have to endure without thought as they complete their missions. The cast of characters in his books are all so interesting and talented that I often wonder if they’re based on actual people he knew while an active duty participant in the most elite of special forces. I easily read over a hundred books this past year because of the pandemic and discovering Brad Taylor was definitely one of the best things that came out of quarantine. He acknowledges that Pike Logan’s character is a composite of several heroes he served with, but he is so gorgeous that I just picture him as Pike. If his books are ever made into movies, producers would be wise to cast him as the main character. While I hate to see any of “my guys” ever get killed, Taylor sticks to reality by allowing one of his operators to go down from time to time. It’s a blunt reminder of the danger that our best and brightest often subject themselves to in order to protect our country. Outstanding author, soldier, hero. Definitely an author to follow if you like reading fast paced, high energy, adrenaline racing books with an array of colorful, multi talented characters. It’s very hard to put his books down, so keep that in mind before you start reading.

⭐ I’ve read almost all the books in this series and this series is a favorite of mine. With that said this book just didn’t flow as well for me as some others have. I really like the characters and enjoyed having Aaron and Shosona back in the action, but at times the story seemed to drag. As long as the story was from Pike’s viewpoint the story moved at a good pace, it was when the story switched to the Russian perspective that I felt a disconnect and had trouble staying focused on the story. This is still a good read, just not as good as others in the series in my opinion.

⭐ This one just did not do it for me. Aaron and Shoshanna took up most of the story and they just aren’t interesting enough to get so many pages in this book. They suckered Pike and Jen into a mission and kept stringing them along with lies and half-truths. Also way to much time was spent on Pike and Jen playing relationship counselors and the awkward, creepy, borderline sociopath Shoshanna talking with Pike about what it’s like to be happy and normal. . . .I just didn’t care.To be blunt, this one was a borefest.Oh yeah, Vladimir Putin is featured.Honestly, I have never cared for Aaron and Shoshanna and if they are going to be more prominently featured in these books going forward, I may have to move on from this series.

⭐ The Task Force is on stand down, its future in doubt. Pike and Jennifer Security company now needs to make an honest living. They head to Poland to authenticate an artifact. Things get really interesting when former Mossad agents Aaron and Shoshana show up looking to recover a centuries old Torah. Their interests seem to intersect. The Iron Curtain might be down but the tensions are still there and Russia is moving to expand their influence. The head of the Russian mafia wants to use this fact to start a war between the US and Russia. Only Pike and his team are in a position to stop him. Riveting action in this great read!

⭐ This is probably the best Pike Logan novel to date. While it stands alone easily, knowing the character development from the earlier books is a huge plus. This novel brings back the Israelis who receive more attention and hence more depth. There were fewer ‘Q’ type gizmos since Pike and Jennifer start without sponsorship of the TF but the ones brought in by Shoshana and Arian are not only interesting but add to the overall suspense that builds as the US and Russia march toward total war. Brad Taylor brings in the view point of a young soldier in the 75th Ranger Regiment who finds himself in his first firefight not in Afghanistan but in the Ukraine. This is one of my favorites of the Pike Logan series.

⭐ Brad Taylor is an underrated author. Pike Logan and his supporting characters try to prevent World War 3. Its thrilling and the characters have depth and are likable. The story is pretty crazy but because of the characters and Taylor’s style, it is very intriguing. Great author and series

⭐ Pike and his team have been put on shelf in the fallout from their last mission. Reluctantly, Pike and Jennifer agree to assist some freelance Israelis with retrieving an ancient relic. Connected to that relic is a plot to depose Putin which will also start WW III. A page turner.

⭐ Through 10 novels (at this point) staring Pike Logan and his colleague and girl friend. This has series and author has rapidly grown into one of my favorites! I really enjoy the Israelis and hope the two angels of death keep showing up in the series, Shoshana is something else. READ THIS BOOK AND THE WHOLE SERIES!

⭐ Pike and Jennifer get invited to help their Israeli coworkers find a lost Jewish national treasure. Russia is involved in its use for payment for services rendered. Can WW3 be stopped before it starts?
